Sorry, I really hate to be that guy but listening to everybody and their brother who haven't paid attention to a college football game in years tell me about how UK is the greatest thing since sliced bread kind of wears me down.

 

Theres other threads on the board to reas other than this one so you don't have the be bothered by Kentucky fans merely celebrating a victory. No one has said anything about National Championships or SEC titles, they are just celebrating a victory, and rightfully having ambitions for next season. Why try to spoil?

Pacman Jones was on the sideline for this one, it was a great game to be in attendance for. That was the best football game I have ever watched in person.

Really? There were some sloppy moments, but I have certainly seen better.

Let's take a step back and look at this for what it is.

 

UK is an above average football team that couldn't have gone less than 6-6 with the regular season laid out for them. They then beat a Georgia team that was in shambles at the time and and a Clemson team that could have cared less about the Music City Bowl.

 

Seriously, I moved down here with nothing against the football team (fans had turned me against the basketball team years ago) and would like to continue to root for them. Let's accept them as a decent football team that could potentially have a bright future with a full complement of scholarships. By all means, enjoy the win, pound some brews and have a good time but Heisman/SEC Championship talk is pure insanity at this point.

They have had schedules similar to this in the past and gone less than 6-6 so that point is clearly wrong.

 

Georgia was so much in shambles the game before they nearly beat Florida the week before UK game and the week after traveled to Auburn and beat them by 22. Hmmmmm.

 

Clemson was Top 15 in Total Offense/Total Defense and Scoring Offense/Scoring Defense, only other team to do that is Ohio State (Thanks ESPN). I was there... it looked like they cared.

Actually I was thinking the SEC living up to the hype and proving they are the best conference in American. That the bottom SEC teams are better than other divisions top teams. :thumb:

While we don't have the $$$ to pass out that the folks at O$U have we do have a great amount of talent coming back next year. They led the SEC in passing and have arguably the best 1,2,3 combo running the ball to go with that in the SEC (McFadden is obviously #1 but so was Little going into this season). We graduate 3 OLinemen and that's it on offense if Burton doesn't go Pro. They did all this with an awful defense that played really well the last two games and has about everybody back. SEC championship is a stretch but it can't be argued that KY has a ton of talent coming back and a great attitude going into the offseason workouts! They also get the tough games at home which is big for teams. Are there some overzealous fans right now... no doubt! Are most of the Buckeye fans overzealous all the time.... no doubt! Kind of like you all finally being good at basketball, it's exciting times here. Welcome aboard:)

I was at the game and there was so much blue that it seemed like a home game. Our seats were one row from the top.:eek: My legs are still sore from climbing up and down those steps. One guy a row in front of me was so out of breath he joked that he could use an inhaler after that climb.:lol:

But it was all worth it. After the game UK fans took over downtown Nashville. Everywhere was blue, blue, blue. I wouldn't take anything for the experience.

I got home for the last 40 seconds and quickly turned the television on and thought the kids had been playing with the color controls on the tv because the ONLY color you saw in the stands was blue. It was an unbelievable visual on tv.

UK has 45 of their top 51 players that played significant minutes, coming back.

 

Ive posted in other threads that I believe the Cats will be competative and build and be better than this season. 45 of their top 51 This is my reasoning. Kentucky, except for one game, was competative in the SEC. Kentucky will be a GOOD football team next season. Like I said in another thread, 8 or 9 wins in the regular season.

Congrats to the UK football team, coaches, Big Blue Nation on the great win. UK is to be commended for their effort and success this season. Did anyone actually think they would win eight (8) games?????? Tremendous job by the players and coaches. Yes, I said coaches. Battling thourgh all the adversity of the schedule in SEC and the hecklers on BGP (like myself), I think the UK team had a great year and even better Bowl W over Clemson. Now the true test is, can UK win 8 next season????
