December 29, 200619 yr I think Marvin will stay a Bengal. He has 4 years invested in rebuilding this team and making his mark in the community. If he takes the Bengals and wins the Superbowl (someday) he would be remembered for one of the greatest coaching marks in NFL history. The Bengals are relatively young and have been building a program through the draft and signing players to long term deals. This does not sound like the plan of a man who is waiting for another coaching opportunity to become available. This sounds like the plan of someone who wants to win long term.

But how much does that change if you get the chance to go home and coach the team you have very direct ties to the top? I'm not sure what Marvin will do, but I get a strange feeling the Steelers will be knocking soon...
December 29, 200619 yr How about the guy that gave him a shot to start his career??? But Cower wouldn't be there anymore. How long is Lewis under contract to the Bengals? I would be shocked if Mike Brown let him walk while under contract.

Marvin has had a rollover deal so far. I hear he's in tight with Mike Brown, and Katie has been fantastic with the $$ side. It would be a VERY hard situation to leave. One that I think can only be questioned when the talk is of going home. If the Steelers want him, money isn't going to be an issue. They will know the deal going in from the minute they make contact...
December 29, 200619 yr The thing the Steeler's bring to the table is they are never in a hurry to change Head Coaches. The Rooney family is a corner stone of the NFL but then again is also the Brown family. GT right it's all about coming home sometimes. It not always the best thing but how could this be a mistake for Lewis. Either way it's a good deal, but I fear for the Bengals fans that he leaves if Cowher retires. The pressue of winning it all in Cincy sometimes I believe is to BIG of pressure especially having to go through Pitt. every year. JMO!!!
December 29, 200619 yr I know we are getting one foot in front of the other here, but what if Marvin does leave? Would Bartowski be elevated for simple continuity sake?
December 29, 200619 yr It would be stupid to leave. He has built a solid foundation here. He also has so much chemistry with so many of the players. You can't buy or teach that.
January 1, 200719 yr I know we are getting one foot in front of the other here, but what if Marvin does leave? Would Bartowski be elevated for simple continuity sake? I don't believe Marvins's going anywhere...But yes, if he did go I believe Bratkowski would be the front runner.
January 1, 200719 yr I've heard the rumors, and think Marvin will be in Cincinnati for years to come. I don't think following Cowher in Pittsburgh would be an easy task, and I'm quite confident that Marvin knows that.

They have had two I believe since the 60's.
January 1, 200719 yr You boys can keep him. Hard time working for the Rooneys if he didnt change some things.

I have an inside source who lives in Pitt who says his wife left him and went to NC with the kids. Tired of the cheating, etc. I think he will quit and head to NC to save his marriage. good for him. He wont be in Pittsburgh though so Marvin isnt going anywhere. I am not opposed to asking Brian Simmons to retire gracefully because he is done and send Justin Smith and Steinbach packing. Justin has had a great year but its a contract year and he wont sustain the same level of play for the next 3 yrs. Steinback is too much money. We can fill his slot. Whitworth and Andrews have stepped in and played well. Tory James should have taken his equipment off yesterday after letting Santonio Holmes run right by him. He wont be back. All I hope for is that Odell gets his life in order and they give him another chance because that LB corp needs him bad.
