Lane Kiffin is a name that draws attention, one way or another, good or bad, which is something a gambling site setting odds on the next coach at a power program would be very interested in.

And I can assure you, I’m no SEC homer. I’m a UK fan these days. That’s about it.

The SEC is the best conference in football and has been for some time now. To think that doesn’t make you a “fan”. To think otherwise makes you an idiot.

All good. LSU is a great job, but just isn't one that fits who Fick is.... That's why most UC fans and those closest to him and the program aren't worried about him leaving.

I don't think it has anything to do with UC fans over valuing their position. Most freak out any time his name is mentioned with a different job. 

UC likely moves to the Big 12 in 2023. I think Fickell will still be the head coach at UC when that happens but we will see how things play out. 

Soooo Dabo is strongly denying any interest in the job. Would that be the grand slam hire that would set College Football on fire from a media perspective?

I'd never even considered him has an option until I started reading allow his denial stories this morning. 

He does have it made at Clemson and has a much easier path to the top of college football than he would at LSU. But if he's looking for a challenge the only thing tougher would be following Saban at Alabama. If LSU is will to pay Coach O $19 large to go away, they'll throw stacks at Dabo. He does have the 2nd best resume over the last 20 years of any college Coach.

I saw the same reports and yes that is the type of splash that LSU wants to make nationally with this next hire.

I don't think Dabo would leave for LSU, though. He's already making $8.4 mil, and as you said, has an easier path to the CFP every year being in the ACC. 

I think he waits for Saban to retire and then takes the Bama job.

Dabo is going through one of those seasons. 14 season ending injuries to starters! Playing lots of young guys. Will go to portal for QB help.....Can you say Spencer Rattler? I think NIL will be a nightmare before too long. People should be happy..... guys with zero experience have NIL deals that pay more than long time assistant coaches earn.

And you are correct.... Swinney is not going to LSU.....but why has no one mentioned Brent Venables??

IMO a program like LSU doesn't go after coordinators. Their program is at the level where they are going to want someone who has HC experience and has been very successful in that experience.

I use to be a big Joe Brady fan. However, now after seeing the success of Burrow, Chase, Jefferson, Edwards, etc in the NFL with different coordinators. It makes you wonder if he truly was as good as he was, or he was literally given true star NFL players to work with during that year at LSU.

From a marketing standpoint, those guys with zero experience are obviously more valuable to the program than the assistants.

If assistant coaches are unhappy with their pay, nothing is stopping them from quitting. They could always pick up a second job to earn some extra cash. Uber is almost always hiring in the larger cities.

Well that's an interesting perspective. You have no idea of the hours these folks work in major college programs nor the work they have done to get there.

I think you answered your own question. Many players and coaches wind up in the NFL and are surrounded by by talent that is not comparable to what they had at the college level. Urban Meyer didn't forget everything. Neither did Joe Brady. Time and place(right time, right place) are key.
