Where could he go that would be a better situation? Only a couple of private school jobs as good....but he's going to stay public for retirement purposes I would think. Unless he got a job as a D1 Championship division assistant I think he stays put.

You’re thinking only in the state of KY. McPeek has connections all over the south; he’s already coached once in GA.

Not saying it’s a definite, and for the sake of KY football, I hope he stays in KY, but his star is rising and we all know money talks. Coaching in a lot of other states not names KY equals six figures and no teaching/admin responsibilities… that’s pretty appealing.

This has been the excuse of all the other Lexington publics for years now. "Douglass took all of our talent..." Bryan Station and Henry Clay (the two primary schools Douglass drew from upon opening) w

I was going to ask what Freddy D did differently to have the success they are having in Lexington that the other schools couldn’t do before Freddy D came along.  Other public schools have had some goo

Apparently it no longer was to your head coach.

I would say Coach Sphire has it made at HHS. But nice change of subject from the actual topic at hand...

Tates Creek will have a new building and facilities at least equal to FDHS next year. Does this mean they are headed to legit 6A contention within their 1st 2-3 years in their new digs? Based on the facilities idea.

**and to clarify, I ask this question because there has been a debate bubbling on Lexington Sports Facebook as of late that Creek will soon be the football big dog because of the shiny new things they will have there**

Personally I don't think that Tates Creek will make a swing like Douglass has, unless something has changed, the stadium is not getting anything done to it during the school rebuild.  The gym & the baseball field will be totally new however.  (not sure about the softball field)

One thing I will say that has been a total disservice to Douglass while they are in 5A is that they have been forced to play the other 5 city schools.  If I am looking at their schedule correctly, 9 of their 10 games are basically spoken for, leaving the Boyle Co. game the only one that they had the freedom to schedule an opponent.  Lexington still hasn't figured it out like Louisville has that you dont have to play someone from the city every year. (yes I know Louisville is much larger & has many more public schools) but you have to admit, its pretty awesome being able to schedule 6-7 games around your district opponents & not be tied down to the same teams year in & year out.

Maybe they truly are supposed to be a 5A school. If they are they are, and I get it. This all kind of reminds me of what happened to Warren Central when South Warren was  created. It seems like Henry Clay and Lafayette have really taken hits. I just believe FD has become the Lexington magnet school. If that is the case then so be it.

Oh so they are keeping the current football stadium permanently,  or just until the old school is demolished and then build the new stadium?

From a source I have inside TCHS, there are no plans to do anything to the stadium, during or after the school is built.

If you read my above post in 2017 they only had 840 students total and around 925-950 in 2018 their 2nd year. When they opened they should have been based on their numbers placed in 4A. I would say fairly certain when the next alignment is conducted they will be in 6A. That will free them up for about 4 games to play since 3 of the 5 Lexington city schools will already be in their district. It will probably be even harder to find games around central Kentucky than it already is I hope the game with Boyle will continue to be a yearly game. It would always be very competitive and not very far to travel either.

All I said was that I didn't feel sorry for the other Lexington public schools.  I don't understand what that has to do with what you wrote.

No problem I apologize the quote was supposed to be the one above about why they were moved down to 5A. Again sorry I was on my cell phone fat fingers I guess.

Henry Clay still has classes in modular buildings they are so overcrowded.

This is what happens when parents complain about "redistricting" & don't want their kid to be moved from what they view as a prestigious school to a school that they see view as not as good.  Henry Clay gets referred to as Old Money & they hold onto that as long as they can.

It honestly would be easy to look at the attendance areas of the schools & cut away a portion to give to a school that has lower attendance.

Freddie Maggard interviewed Coach McPeek this week on the KSR Depth Chart podcast. Really great interview that got into his time Russelville, Marshall, the state of high school football in KY, and college recruiting. Highly recommend giving it a listen if you have time.
