Lexington Catholic beating Covington Catholic opened some eyes, do you think Boyle County should be on upset alert? I know Boyle put a running clock on them earlier in the year.

I don't think so.  The first game should have been a little closer.  LexCath was in the Red Zone 3 times I think and came away with nothing because of 2 pics and maybe turnover on downs.  Having trouble remembering exactly.  But in their 2 losses and even their win against CovCath they have yet to rush for over 100 yards in any of those 3 games.  In those same 3 games they threw for less than 200 yards going for 190, 180 and only 98 against Boyle.  So will Boyle blank them again?  Probably not, but I just don't think LexCath has  enough offense to challenge very seriously.

Covington Catholic is not the team they have been the previous 2 or 3 years. It most likely will be closer than 40-0 this time around but Boyle should win by 3 TD's or more.

It's Lex Cath, always got to be concerned.   I do feel they have improved but not enough to beat Boyle at Boyle. 

I am really impressed with the Boyle defense this year.  First team D has 4 shutouts this season and gave up only 4 touchdowns this seasons.  1 was a turnover against Madison Southern returned inside their 10 yard line, 1 against Highlands on a long kickoff return to the red zone and pass to the end zone to end the first half, and 2 long pass plays against CAL on a backup DB.  The other 2 where on the JV team and kickoff return for a TD.  

I like Rebels also by 3 or more TD's.

The worst thing that could have happened to LexCath may have been that win over CovCath.   Boyle might have gone into the game a little complacent after the earlier game (hey, they're young and it's just human nature)....but....

Does anyone NOT think the LexCath - CovCath score isn't on the Boyle County bulletin board?

Boyle will be ready.   Like most have already said, it's probably closer than before, but LexCath is still a big underdog.

(Of course, I'm sure that there's a score on the LexCath bulletin board as well.....)

The loser of the regular season has never beaten the winner in the post season. 

Boyle won a close game at home in 2013.  Mercer County upset Boyle County in the 2nd round I believe and LexCath beat Mercer the following week. 

LexCath has to come out of the gate and get some early scores AND has to get some early stops.  The air-raid game is great when its clicking.  But it can lead to 3-and-outs and short fields for the opponent when its not. 

A big difference with Boyle from 7-8 years ago is their passing game.  LexCath used to be able stop the run with the 3-4 and cheating the DBs.  Now that Boyle has developed a more open offense it is much harder to defend. 

You have to favor Boyle.  But never say never.

These are, after all, high school kids.   

Who may have had a fight with their girlfriend.

Who may have gotten fired at McDonald's.

Who may have been grounded by their parents for flunking a test.

Or who may simply be having an "I'm mad at the world" day.   

We all remember those days.

Never say never.

Remember that this game is at Boyle. Don't think that the Boyle coaches and players know that LC just beat CC. The Boyle players are motivated and anxious to get back on the field. Yes anything can happen but don't expect the Rebels not to be ready and motivated.

They have played too many times for anyone wearing black and gold to think they just have to show up.  Plus LexCath is having a pretty good season.  5-2 with only losses coming from LCA and Boyle and coming off an upset of CovCath.  Plus they led the Lexington Christian game 20-7 with 9 min to play.  I do wish Boyle had a tougher go of it the last few weeks.  35 points is the closest margin of victory they've had this year and that was in the middle of September agains CAL.  I wish they would had played a game that was still in doubt in the 4th quarter.  CAL was still in doubt at halftime but again that was 6 games and 2 months ago.  So again, I don't think it will be a running clock again and I do think it will be closer, but I just don't think LexCath has the running game to make Boyle come out of the 3 man front enough to hit them with many big plays.  If Gillis has a good game Boyle should still win by 3-4 scores.  But we will see. 

I still think Boyle wins this one by multiple TDs.....

Boyle will win by a large margin 

 

LexCath is obviously good, proven by their win over CCH. 

But Boyle County is better than CCH too, IMO, so I still like Boyle over LexCath.
