:thumb: I agree completely, I was even thinking of him along with Rondo when I mentioned keeping players. I just didn't mention him because he wouldn't have been around this year, but the others would have.

Having Lofton would not help this team more than having either Hansborough or Wright. Not getting one of those guys hurt this team more than anything else...

 

I think this team's main sturggles are coming from guard play. Having a shooter like that would improve this team tremendously. I agree missing out on those guys was huge, but I don't know if they could be as productive with the bad guard play at UK right now.

I'm concerned about the coaches that were checking Patterson out last night along with Tubby. I was hoping we could get him and hopefully get our talent level back up to par.

Well one retired! The other got fired for cheating! Which I don't believe Tubby will ever do!

Why do think talent is everything? I would take Desire,Heart and good chemistry over great talent any day!!! Let's say we get the Patterson kid and He doesnt do good in class,does dumb things outside of the team,and only cares about himself! Well at least you can say that boys got talent! I have seen it before!

SA, this statement sums it up. Many of us who have "lowered our standards (I know, we're heathens)" started following UK in the mid 70's. We've seen ebbs and flows. If you never see your team struggle, trust me, you don't enjoy the success nearly as much. There were times in the 80's when UK dipped down, and lo and behold, here we are 20 years later and the Earth is still on its axis.

 

Like nearly every other team, in every other sport, there are ups and downs. Believe me, in the 80's, the Yankees were a joke. As were the Packers. As were the Buccaneers. As were the Suns. As were the...you get the point.

 

When your body of fandom is more than just 10 years, and you've seen more than just great years, you'll learn to take the bad years in stride and keep them in perspective.

I was lucky??? enough to begin keeping up with UK basketball in the late 80's and have seen the down years. While Tubby has allowed his recruiting to slip, these times are nowhere close to those. Fans that began following during the 1990's have a somewhat "skewed" view of UK basketball. It's good that these people have high standards, but compared to other "top" programs over the last ten seasons, UK is very similar.

You know what continually amazes me, the constant negativity around some "fans" of the UK program.

 

Some can't find a positive thing to say, without first starting with a negative, often perceived at that. The it leads to this one shouldn't even be on the team, followed by he's terrible, pathetic...more diatribe negative adjectives.

 

Then the suggestions of this player should be signed, we blew it on that one....heck, I would just about assume half of the posters on here, haven't even seen some of the players play, but yet they want UK to sign them. If UK would sign them, first bad game....then they would get the verbal tongue lashing.

 

I've been watching UK, since very early '70's and have seen some very good and some not very good talent but they still have that K E N T U C K Y across their chest and that's good enough for me....Here's a news flash, Pitino was not the only coach at UK, UK is still the all-time win leader in NCAA, the sky will not fall and the UK program is not in shambles and I just hope some of you don't like Coach Smith, for reasons other than his coaching.

 

When UK is on, find something else to do....you're being consumed by your own lack of Basketball knowledge. I dread anymore, after UK plays to start sifting through all the "anti" thread....almost enough to stop posting on BGP.

Im sure you'd never quit posting over that, or at least I'd hope not. Your posts are far too insightful and beneficial to the site for a few "bad apple" fans to keep you from posting...I, along with everybody else (Well, almost everybody) on this board know how you feel, but don't let those few keep you away. :thumb:

Thanks Deuce, I deliberately cut back on the UK threads the last game, for that very reason.

 

I can understand not always liking a player, his ability, game or Coach Smith's style but enough is enough....I've been critical of Brooks and Archer over the years but they deserve support, so I've given them their credit and kept my opinions to myself.

 

The constant barrage of negativity, is taking away from all the positives of the team and even makes a diehard sports fan like me, pass on some threads.

I'll probably just avoid them and look for other college threads, were some fans watch to not criticize.
