December 14, 200619 yr You know what continually amazes me, the constant negativity around some "fans" of the UK program. Some can't find a positive thing to say, without first starting with a negative, often perceived at that. The it leads to this one shouldn't even be on the team, followed by he's terrible, pathetic...more diatribe negative adjectives. Then the suggestions of this player should be signed, we blew it on that one....heck, I would just about assume half of the posters on here, haven't even seen some of the players play, but yet they want UK to sign them. If UK would sign them, first bad game....then they would get the verbal tongue lashing. I've been watching UK, since very early '70's and have seen some very good and some not very good talent but they still have that K E N T U C K Y across their chest and that's good enough for me....Here's a news flash, Pitino was not the only coach at UK, UK is still the all-time win leader in NCAA, the sky will not fall and the UK program is not in shambles and I just hope some of you don't like Coach Smith, for reasons other than his coaching. When UK is on, find something else to do....you're being consumed by your own lack of Basketball knowledge. I dread anymore, after UK plays to start sifting through all the "anti" thread....almost enough to stop posting on BGP. UK basketball fans are the most knowledegable anywhere. Very inaccurate to argue that if you don't like Tubby, you just don't know basketball...

Bad style of play, poor recruiting, teams not ranked in the top 25, early exits in the NCAA, UF, LSU passing our program in the SEC, not being able to beat good teams... The solution is to turn up the heat on the coaching staff (which has been done), and give the coach some time to right the ship... That doesn't mean if you don't like the present state of the program, you don't know basketball...far from it...

There's a great big world out there, with many colleges and just because people are vocal, don't confuse that with knowledge. I would tend to think the Ivy League or ACC fans, are more knowledgeable in basketball than UK's but the difference is, there's not crowning themselves as experts, like within this state.

Thanks for the info about the big world, and I'm not confused about UK fans' knowledge...I've seen it for myself for many years and I know very well what it is... As far as UK fans being vocal, it's one of the things that makes our program special...

Let's say we get the Patterson kid and He doesnt do good in class,does dumb things outside of the team,and only cares about himself! Well at least you can say that boys got talent! I have seen it before! Tubby has been all over this kid, so its obvious HE thinks we need him. He knows more about any of these kids that I do, thats what the 7 figure paycheck is for. The fact is that UK has been missing on kids they've worked hard for, not that UK is going after lower tier kids. If Tubby can put together a top 10 team with 2 star recruits, thats fine, but thats not what has happened.

Like I said, most of the top teams... Freshman class could be good. But they have lost to the only 3 good teams they have played... I haven't mentioned Pitino...you keep doing it and it has nothing to do with this discussion... We'll never know... Fans will demand that the program be among the elite. Which is a good thing. I wish you could have too. A bowl game doesn't mean the football program is where they want to be just yet. But this is about the basketball program...
