December 8, 200619 yr If you think Gagne didn't juice you're kidding yourself. His fastball jumped from like 92 to 98 in like a year or something and it coincided with him "filling out." He was also in LA where anything and everything is accessable. I think if a player in Cincinnati wanted steroids or HGH he could find it.
December 8, 200619 yr I know I rode him to a fantasy championship a few years back; and I think I got him in something like the 5th or 6th round because a lot of folks didn't know if he would be the Dodgers' closer. When healthy, he's as nasty as they get; but seems awfully risky at this point in time.
December 8, 200619 yr Not sure what is going on with the Reds. Take a drug addict who has thrown his career away and a rumored steroid freak this offseason. Has Marvin Lewis taken over the Reds personnel moves this offseason?

December 8, 200619 yr Gagne at 75% is probably still better than Stormy Weathers, in the role of closer.
December 8, 200619 yr Gagne expected to make decision on who he is playing for by sometime today. It's expected to either be the Rangers, Red Sox, or Indians with the Indians and Rangers being the frontrunners.
December 8, 200619 yr When was his last full season? 2004 I believe....risky acquistion for anyone I think....
December 8, 200619 yr I still remember one time when LA came to town and Gagne was a starting pitcher then. He got hammered and even gave up a homer run to Prime Time Deion Sanders. It was like a year or two before he blew up. Had to be the juice because he absolutely sucked before.
December 9, 200619 yr If he returns to form and we sign him, that would be a huge edition IMO. How many games did are bullpen mainly closer cost us the first 3 months of the season. Last year we were 3 and 1/2 games out and with a healthy Gange we would at least closed out 5 more games that we lost.
December 11, 200619 yr It's like adding nitrous to your Yugo, it's gonna go faster for a while until the velocity tears up something in the engine.
