Padres interested in Dunn?

Featured Replies

Pittsburgh Tribune Review

The San Diego Padres could be ready to put Scott Linebrink, a top-notch setup guy with closer potential, on the block to attract a power hitter. Reportedly, Cincinnati slugger Adam Dunn is in their sights.

Straight up, or are those just the principle figures?

No clue...

Not sure I understand Krivskey's thought process, of accumulating middle relief pitching.

The Reds need starting pitching, to contend.

I don't think this deal would be considered anything but closer, not middle relief, IMO. I just thought that Dunn would be our one and only chip to lure in potential deal for a starter. In the event this deal goes through, I sure hope to hear of an update on our new 10 mil increase in payroll which has been earmarked for another starter.

I would say that Dunn is more likely to go to SF than to SD. I also still think Boston and Pittsburgh are in the mix.

Who would the Reds get from San Francisco? Noah Lowry?

Not sure, but they need to get younger and add pop quickly.

We're trading a 40/100/100/100 guy for a setup man who has "potential" to be a closer?

The Reds better get more than that ...

Cincy may be interested in bringing back a popular player that helped the Yanks a few years back to get into the WS. He's already in Ohio and a FA. Why? I'm with Strike3, the Reds need starting pitching. It seems that they are going after MR's and power hitters. Maybe a utility player?

So, this could be the guy that may replace Dunn as the powerhiter IF Dunn is going West.

Don't ask, I don't have a link. Cincy may be interested in bringing back a popular player that helped the Yanks a few years back to get into the WS. He's already in Ohio and a FA. Why? We talked about Boone in the Loreta thread...

I missed that one. :thumb:

That would make possibly 12 3rd basemen on the roster!!!

I heard this discussion today.

Lets stay the Reds make this trade then use the extra cash to get Jacque Jones. Jones has 2 years left on a 3 yr/$16M contract.
