All “A” State Predictions

Featured Replies

This will be my first post on BGP. Glad to be apart of this growing community of basketball fanatics like myself.

With the All “A” rapidly approaching, I’m curious what teams are currently title contenders. I’m familiar with top programs from the 9th and 10th (Brossart, Robertson, St. Henry, NCC etc.), but have no idea when it comes to the rest of the state. Would love to hear your insights.

I am partial because I cover the region, but the winner of the 12th, be it Somerset or a healthy Danville, will be a serious contender. I’m think it will be the Briar Jumpers behind Kade Grundy. They have the potential for a very deep run.

The 9th is fun and there is a chance St. Henry makes it out and I think they as well have a serious chance to make noise with Wyatt Vieth.

I am very excited for Coach Faust’s chances in the All A this year. Go Cru!

Welcome to BGP GroveStreetHoops. You got me thinking about whom our NKY teams might match up with throughout the state. I agree with se7ens and hoops5 about Somerset and St. Henry. I would look at Glasgow, Bishop Brossart and Shelby Valley to make a run too.

For reference, these are the highest BGP rated All “A” Classic participants from each region.

Nobody in this state has seen a team coached by Adam Reed come tourney time!

This guy has more tricks up his polo shirt than David Copperfield. It won’t be long until they drop “Touchstone Energy” as the title sponsor and just call it the Reeds vs The World.

When the pressure is on, and there is something on the line, coach Reed will get the best out of his boys.

There’s a very good chance we are looking at the champion of the 9th and the champion of the 12th in the second round night cap. That would be a very fun game. The idea of that calls up memories of the 2005 semifinals when Somerset beat Newport Central Catholic at the buzzer 43-42.

I think you have to win the regional before you go to the big dance. I don't see that happening as your team can barely walk. LOL

I must say that you have me curiously excited about knowing more about your Coach Adam Reed...

If this is the same Coach Reed of which you speak, this is his body of work thus far this season.

Judging by this I can now see why you can't contain your excitement.

Is Louisville Collegiate not in the All “A” tournament since they qualified for the LIT?

They're scheduled to play this Saturday 8pm at Pap Glenn vs the Friday winner of Walden/St Francis.

Thanks statman. I'd pick Collegiate as the favorite in the 7th region, but don't think they'll contend for the state title.

I think they are playing in both. There was a potential conflict on dates, but it looks like the Seventh Region All A championship game has been moved to next Thursday, which I am glad to see. It would not be good to make a team choose one or the other.

Collegiate is definitely the favorite to win the All A Seventh Region, and the Titan faithful are very excited about their potential chances at the All A state tournament. However, Seventh Region teams traditionally have not fared well at the All A state tournament. Collegiate won one game there in 2018 (against Raceland), but before that the last time a Seventh Region team won any games at the All A state tournament was in 2012. Every year presents a new set of teams, but history is not on the Seventh Region's side in the All A state tournament.

Murray will be a tough out. They have one of the more underrated coaches in the state in Dior Curtis and have some talent for to play with. They have a really good freshman in Grant Whitaker. Maybe he will put on a show at state and get some recognition.
