Dabo is making the parallel that his team is Rocky (IV) Balboa and LSU is Drago and his Tigers are going into Russia.

 

Unlike Drago, I hope LSU is able to “break” Dabo’s worn out schtick.

Blame the media for that. The media made it easy for him this year to keep with that same narrative. They are the defending champs and still haven’t lost. Yet all year people talked about OSU and LSU being the best teams. So the media talking about those teams, made it easy for him to keep with that same narrative still.

 

Personally I would love it though he just talked trash, since they have been the best. Come out and say something like Ric Flair about if you want to be the man, you have to beat the man lol.

Dabo preaches a family atmosphere. I figured that as part of his schtick. However, from what I've seen with how the Jeff Scott hire at South Florida has gone, Sweeny seems to walk the walk. At Scott's introductory press conference, there were assistants from Clemson's staff (co-OC, DC, and others) there to support the new USF head coach. I've never seen that before.

I think it was telling that he is who he seems to be by Kirk Herbstreit sending his son to play for him. Herbstreit is around all of these guys and hears a ton more of the behind the scenes stuff than we ever will. He decided Dabo was who he wanted coaching his son. If Dabo was a fake or it was all a big show, I would think little Herbie would have went else where.

Yes and no. If they just knew how to win these games, they would have had four straight titles going into tonight. Instead they got blown shut out by Bama two years ago, and two years before that also lost to Bama. So they have been an every other year team in knowing how to win this. Which technically were back on the year where they lose it lol.

Can't I just root for LSU and against Clemson because I hate the ACC or is that against the law yet?

I didn't realize how good a runner Trevor Lawrence is and how much Clemson uses him in that capacity. That, and the fact that Swinney IMO is a better coach than Coach O, has me picking Clemson to win it.

Lawrence starts off 4-4 for 52 yards but Clemson has to punt.
