Coaching change at CovCath?

Featured Replies

Easy now -- in the last 20 years it's HHS 7, CCH 6. :p:D :sssh:

For the record, and the rest of KY 7.

Yeah, but you spotted us nine. :D

Yeah, but you spotted us nine. :D

We can't do anything about that at this point. :bunny:

Sure you can...but I hope you don't!

I meant we can't do anything about the 9 you guys had before we got rolling...but I know you know that. :D

Yes, either with Rodenberg or some other lucky Coach, we're going to try and continue to close that gap. My point was only that in the last 20 years, the separation between the two is much closer than most would think at first blush.

I work with a CCH fan, and he claims that he wants a college position.

Well hear we go again!! - I hope I can get this in before this one closes.

I'm sure there are plenty of folks from "the Christmas walk in Fort Thomas" and some other areas of NKY that have already added something like that already to there "Santa WISH List's".

I was also speculating over the weekend myself, at the "Colonels 2006 State Championship" party. That IF Coach R. and his staff had come one year earlier in 2004 that CCH might have been celebrating a 3-peat, '04,’05 and ‘06. IMHO! But one can only speculate! I mean………..

I still remember hearing that guy after the 2nd CCH/HHS game at Cov Cath. saying - "John Rodenberg" - Dale Mueller's and the team from Fort Thomas, "Worst Nightmare". I think he may have hit on something. :D

Probably too early based on two wins this year (one of which he was fortunate as heck to win) to start claiming that Rodenberg is a Highlands killer. I hope he stays at CovCath several more years so we get more shots at him and then we can pass judgement if he's our worst nightmare. He had his shot last year, with what I think was a far superior team and he lost. And there is no way I am buying 04, not with Rodenberg or even Tretzel for that matter as the head coach. Sorry about that.

Heard he was going to Roger Bacon a couple of weeks ago to get back to get back to his native Ohio and to get in the GCL. source seemed reliable, but who knows.

As to your last sentence I completely agree. While the win lost record has been heavily in our favor, a lot of those games were very close. And in several of our wins, I'm didn't think we were the better team. Then again, in a couple of your wins (97 and 01), I didn't think you had the better team. Great rivalry and I hope Rodenberg stays there. He'll only make us better.

Bacon is in the GCL North, the same league he was in when he left to come to CCH. He'd like to be in the GCL South, no question, but Bacon wouldn't accomplish that.

Again, the only reason Bacon would be attractive (IMHO) is if Purcell closing is going to be turn Bacon into a Mercer Co. (if you get my drift) situation with the merging of two schools. I just find that rumor shocking, but what do I know.

I've never heard anything College related with Coach R, so that would be news to me.

I've never heard the college line...did hear that his son is getting ready to go to Bacon, has roots there and has always stated that would be a school he would want if it became available...(which it did)....but, as stated so eloquently by HS...what do I know? I hope it's not true...

HS,

Agreed on all your comments, also anytime a Cincy guy comes over here I think that you'll hear his name come up everytime there are job openings. It's now happened at the end of this year as it did last year. But as you mentioned unless Bacon and Purcell are combining why would he go back to the GCL North, which is a fine league but where he came from and anyone would have to say a step backwards. In the same vein as you mentioned in an earlier post that IF he had the chance to go to Elder, or Moeller or LaSalle he would jump in a heart beat. How could you begrudge a guy from taking a position in one of the top leagues in the COUNTRY. So that being said IF the Elder coach is leaving(which this is total speculation at this point) and you were John Rhodenberg and are from Cincy, coached at LaSalle and McNick and just won the state championship at CCH heck yeah I'd interview and go after that job !!!!!!!

So for everyone else over in Ft. Thomas and around town I'd quite speculating until you here something of validity other than internet chatter and someone's brother's little sister at a Christmas party told you he was leaving.

For what its worth, I heard it from someone to "supposedly" heard it from someone extremely well connected at CovCath. I guess time will tell if the person was as well connected at CovCath as believed. But based on what I've been told, its seems a little more credible than internet chatter or coming from a brother's little sister at an X mas party. And again, I hope the rumor's wrong. I hate for the guy to leave town with his two most recent games against us being wins:banana:. He'll get a chance to leave after a loss next year, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, etc. :ylsuper:.

Bring back Coach Ray!!!!!!! Please!!!

CovCath's success this season could bring Rodenberg offers for other coaching jobs in the area, but he didn't want to discuss that after Friday's victory.

"I just take it one year at a time," he said. "We just won a state championship and I'm happy for our team. I'm just going to celebrate that a little bit."

So, is he saying the CCH position is just a year-to-year thing to him?
