Gifts were opened Christmas morning once Mom woke up in my house growing up.

 

See, that's what I'm hearing from my co-workers too. But, my sister and I were ALWAYS up before my mom and dad. Heck, we couldn't wait to show them what Santa had brought. I remember getting a Pitch-Back from Santa one year. It was already assembled and set up on the living room floor. I already had a ball and was "using it" by the time mom and dad got up. Loved that thing! Can't imagine it would've had the same excitement level if it was wrapped in a box and we had to put it together later on. But, that's just me.

Nobody dared walk into the living room before EVERYONE was up, mom and grandma had their coffee, and we took a dumb photo in the hallway. Then, and only then, did we go busting in!!!

Trust me, it was plenty exciting to unwrap everything and put it together. And my brother and I were always up before my mom. He and I would be up early trying to figure out what everything was and prioritizing which gifts would get opened first. Mom would get up around 8am, watch us open gifts and then get started on a big pancake breakfast.

I was never allowed to wake my patents before 5 a.m. which to me meant 4:30...:lol2:

Santa's presents were not wrapped. Like others stated, it helped to know what Santa brought us right off the bat and typically, Santa brought "the good stuff".

Same. I could never sleep as a kid, and now I can't sleep as a Dad because I cant wait to get the kids into the family room. I wake them up at 7:30!!

We always had Santa presents in their own separate Santa wrapping paper.

When I was young, presents from Santa were not wrapped. Now they are.

Presents from Santa were wrapped , but he must have wrapped them while at our house because I always noticed he used the same wrapping paper as my mom and dad. I guess he just ran out and had to borrow wrapping paper from them. Either that or he just used their wrapping paper to keep his cost down.

All presents were always wrapped. I've never heard of presents from "Santa" not being wrapped.

Presents from mom and dad were wrapped. Present or two from Santa himself were never wrapped.

 

This, and we still do it. We each open one wrapped present on Christmas Eve; then Santa always brings a few more unwrapped things.
