Is there any credibility to the Chris Wolfe to Highlands rumors floating around?

Featured Replies

I have no idea on this one either but I am sure there are some "Highlands Powers that be" that are dissatisfied with the state of the Highlands football program. These comments are from the "Is it time for Bob Beatty to leave Trinity?" thread:

Same subject, different coach. Maybe someone has better information than me.

I overheard some Male fans in the parking lot before the game discussing Chris Wolfe's future at Male. Apparently he's having trouble getting his daughter in the school. He also recently lost his pizza franchise. And it appears that Highlands has all but delivered a Brinks truck to his driveway.

Yes. Two Male fans. I also heard it from his former GM at his pizza business, and they are Male alum.

Someone that supports Highlands may have tried to communicate with Wolfe, their Admin has not.

No doubt a topic for another thread, but I wonder how Coach Weinrich feels about that?

I will ask again, is there any credibility to the "Chris Wolfe to Highlands rumors" floating around?

  • Everyone talks like these are big money college jobs! It's HIGH SCHOOL football in Kentucky, not TEXAS. Coaches are either teachers or administrators who coach or paraprofessionals who have a full tim

I’ve heard nothing about that. I’ve heard his family is settled in and happy in Louisville. Love my Birds but I feel like Male to Highlands is a significant step down?

The BoomBozz Pizza restaurant at Westport Village was previously owned by Chris and his wife Marcia. Per Louisville Business First, BoomBozz founder/CEO Tony Palombino has formed a company called TBB America LLC to start re-assuming control of the franchised locations of his restaurant. TBB America has taken back ownership of the Westport Village location and as of October 31, had temporarily closed the location for renovations to be completed by late winter 2020.

Sounds like Tank nailed that one @NLTanker1

I'm going to say no, there's no real credibility to the rumor.

Granted, what I've heard was completely just speculative discussion, but since I moved here to Louisville I've had numerous conversations with folks about coaching in Louisville, especially surround coaching the coaching changes at St. Xavier and CAL, and during the previous "Coach Beatty is retiring" scare that took place following the 2013 or 2014 season. There was also some obvious discussion surrounding the talk of Weinrich departing Highlands after the 2016 season.

Anyway, what I was always told was that, whatever he ended up doing, Wolfe was going to be staying in Louisville because his wife and her family were dug in deep within the Louisville community, and because Coach Wolfe's father-in-law had been the financial backer for Chris and Marcia starting their Louisville restaurant business, with the understanding that the investment would be an offering to insure that Chris would be staying local to the company (which his wife runs) and he would not go looking for a coaching job anywhere else in the state. It would seem like losing the pizza franchise makes a big change to that scenario.

I mean he and his family have been in Louisville for a long time now. I know he is a Highlands boy but you'd think that his family would play a big role in that decision.

Everyone loves pizza, come on. But not a fan of Boombozz.

Also, I have nothing against Chris Wolfe. But after hearing the same story 3 times, I don't think its unreasonable to discuss on BGP.

I agree.

When something is talked about around town, talked about in bars, talked about in man caves, talked about at schools, it is fair game to talk about it at BGP.

Did I miss something? Doesn’t Highlands have a coach?
