Lots of places "have a coach". Doesn't mean they're not looking for a better one. Highlands hasn't exactly been the perennial power of years past.

Coaching has certainly played a role, especially these last several years. Would they have won state? No, but they would certainly not have been the train wreck that they were this year.

Lost 1 to state champ, 1 to state finalist that many thought was one of states best, one to a good Tennessee team, and two to a pretty good Conner team right? Sometimes the other guys are just BETTER.

I promise you if they had won about four more games those problems would be moot. I guess the only way you know the problems is to be there at school and practice everyday and most folks aren't.

It is not divided, it is crumbling. All I can say if things stay status quo on the coaching staff, there will be a lot of support for the program that finds itself going somewhere else.

At the end of the day, the Birds are going to roll out again next season and they either will be competitive with the Colonels or struggle with Conner and Cooper again.

 

I think we all know what each of those possibilities mean.

I didn’t go to Highlands but can feel your pain 100 miles away. So much tradition and excellence in that city. My .2 cents would be, when people start losing believe, that’s a really bad situation to be in. I wish all the players well who give it 100% everyday.

There were things that occurred this season that should be an embarrassment to the program. The head coach unfortunately is an extension of his assistants and some need to GO and if they do not then he needs to go with them. There is no I in team and that goes from the top down.

I agree we need to protect all of our children.

 

I will be the one to say it here, I don't think Chris Wolfe is the answer for Highlands. If I am wrong here please correct me (anyone). I don't think he would be bad, just not the answer.

 

The problem at Highlands since Coach Mueller left is offensive coordination. All things considered the defense was solid this year and Coach Weinrich is a defensive Coach.

 

Switching to Coach Wolfe, I didn't like Male's offense at all this year and to my knowledge Coach Wolfe is not the offensive coordinator.

 

My point is, when Highlands moves on from Coach Weinrich it needs to be for a proven offensive football coach.

I would be all for BW stepping down as head coach and resuming with what he does best, Defensive Coordinator.

 

Bring in a new head coach with discipline and an offensive background and Highlands is headed back in the right direction.

 

Don’t know Wolfe, if he and BW were teammates I wonder if BW could work for Wolfe.
