Huge small school implications possibly on the line here. With their thrashing of Beechwood, Somerset looks very strong and every bit a legit threat to Mayfield in 2A, but Williamsburg remains a bit of a mystery. This is their opportunity to solidify themselves as a top tier team in 1A and maybe even make a case for #1.

From an outside interested observer, this game is primarily about finding out about Williamsburg. How good are they? Somerset is going to be a great measuring stick.

Somerset 40-19.

Williamsburg faithful have been hooting at Pikevillers all year. This brings them to earth. Thicket bunnies big.

A lot are going to find out how good Somerset defense is. They only aloud 1 TD against varsity, 1 kickoff TD and 2 late against Jv. Beechwood, and Rockcastle found out when they shut the pass down. Somerset defense is to fast and good for the jackets OL. Secondary is nice. 2 returning corners, and safeties that started half the season last year. Ponder will see more pressure then he's seen all year. 42-7 Somerset.

Somerset by all they want - 42-7

Somerset won 42-27 last year.

I am going to say 46-21 Jumpers. Ponder and his weapons will make some plays, but I just think Somerset is the superior team.

Somerset won 34-7 last year.

Good points. Obviously a win says a ton, but how close does Williamsburg need to keep for us to consider them a threat to Pikeville (and Paintsville and Raceland)?

I agree.

Like I mentioned in another thread, if Williamsburg keeps it close they are a legit 1A title contender.

May be shocked Williamsburg has only allowed 2 touchdowns against their varsity, both were scored by Middlesboro. The other games the varsity defense has shut everyone out. They lead Leslie 44-0 and Frankfort 48-0 before surrounding scores. I don't believe Williamsburg will win, but they are not going to get beat 42-7.

That's very true, but Leslie County and Frankfort not on Somerset level. Know one yet has stopped this offense, and the run game is more solid then the passing game. If Williamsburg can keep Somerset under 35 would be a miracle with the film I've seen, but I'll be the first to tip my hat if im wrong.

Still early to have a real good read. I was surprised by the Raceland score against Pikeville. I thought that would be a 3 or 4 touchdown win for Pikeville. I don't know how good Pikeville is. I want to see how the Williamsburg defense performs against Somerset. If Williamsburg holds Somerset to 28 points or less, I say they are a threat to win 1A.

Somerset will score early and often 44 - 12. Jumpers
