January 8, 20197 yr Love seeing Clemson not only win but blowout a beast like Bama. I guess Arkansas State and The Citadel added to how good Bama looked but did nothing to prepare them for a team like Clemson. ACC,ACC, ACC
January 8, 20197 yr I know Alabama didn’t look good tonight but I still think these were by far the two best teams. Clemson out coached Alabama and that’s really impressive. Agreed 100%. What will be most interesting is the offseasons coaching changes for both teams. I'd expect a rematch next year but that's why we play the games. Long season ahead for both teams next year regardless of how the schedule looks right now.
January 8, 20197 yr Bama and Georgia down on the mat, what is the current state of SEC football? Top to bottom, still better than every other conference.
January 8, 20197 yr SEC won 6 bowl games. No problems there. Tonight's title game came down to Alabama being unable to score TD's in 1st and goal situations and turnovers. Alabama won time of possession and had more first downs than Clemson. Total yards in the game were 482 for Clemson and 443 for Alabama. Alabama had three drives in the second half before it got out of hand and drove to the red zone all three times. All three times they got stopped on fourth down and got no points. The early and obvious kicking problems for Alabama really dictated the tempo and play calling. It was obvious that Alabama wasn't playing for 3 even when they would most games. Kicking game coupled with Tua's early picks just sealed this game early and it continued from there. By the time that narrative had been written it was too late to go to the running game that had success early.
January 8, 20197 yr I guess Bama didn't belong, huh? Had no business being in the championship? :idunno:
January 8, 20197 yr I read here and elsewhere just how bad Imagine Dragons were with their half time show, so I checked it out on Youtube expecting a train wreak. The dude's voice was too much out front in the mix throwing it out of balance exposing imperfection, but a little tweaking of the knobs would've solved that. It's sorta like being too heavy on the mic at Karaoke where if you back away some then it's not so painful to listen as long as the vocals and music are more properly blended. All in all though I don't really understand what people were freaking out about as it really wasn't that bad. I'm not a huge Imgaine Dragons fan so it's not me defending them, but I listened and wasn't annoyed, and I've certainly heard worse. Seems like a lot of folks were just jumping on the social media bandwagon together convincing each other that it was awful, so they heard it how they wanted to hear it for the sake of having fun sensationalizing that it was awful.
January 8, 20197 yr Reason #1 I love college football bowl season: hyperbolic blanket statements about the rise or demise of teams and/or conferences because of a singular game.
January 8, 20197 yr Given that players are now sitting out of bowl games to avoid injury, should Lawrence just go ahead and quit school and just chill out with a personal trainer for the next two years. His draft status could only fall or God forbid suffer a career changing injury.[/QUOT Kind of like Clowney did his junior year?
January 8, 20197 yr The concession came when Saban opted not to try and get points at the end of the first half. 40 seconds, or however long it was, with three timeouts is like having four minutes in the NFL. Both teams moved the ball with relative ease, the difference being until the Tide got down to the red zone where Clemson made plays and Bama apparently forgot how to call plays.
January 8, 20197 yr Thought the Alabama redzone offense from the 2nd qtr on was a little egotistical. Bama insisted on smashmouth football proving they were the baddest, and Clemson flipped the script with their D. This happened 3/4(?) times. OC is to be 2nd, 3rd, 4th questioned time and again.
January 8, 20197 yr Surprising outcome. Not at all surprising that Clemson won, I think most people could easily see that happening. But the margin is pretty indicative of just how good Clemson was this year. Lawrence a freshman, Ross a freshman and Etienne a sophomore? Is the guard changing in CFB?
January 8, 20197 yr Clemson (the ones on the internet) were already beyond obnoxious before this, so it's kind of annoying they will only be worse now... But, it's fun to see SEC fans put in their place.

His draft status could only fall or God forbid suffer a career changing injury. It’s sad, honestly. Lawerence could be making millions of dollars come April, but he is instead forced to hang out at Clemson for two years where he can only collect confetti, but can make millions for his school.

I hear what you're saying and agree to an extent, but jumping into the NFL at 18/19 is way different than jumping into any other professional sport. Early indications are that Lawrence will be a very good NFL QB, but why not fully prepare for a few years before being thrown to the wolves?
