I do not give Saban an edge because of the time off. I do think something goes into having been there before and knowing the routine.

There you go. Additionally, I thought Bama looked horrible in the title game against Texas, whichever year that was. Luckily Colt McCoy got injured right at the start or they lose that one. The final score makes it look convincing, but that was a three point game late in the fourth. OU in the Sugar Bowl was another bad loss.

 

I’m a Texas fan and remember it well. Truth is they’ve won 5 National Titles in the last 9 years I believe. And here we are talking about clunkers in bowl games for them.

Nick Saban did have an edge with the additional time off. His secret was he had numerous additional people on his "analytical staff." He still does; but most other big named schools also have "analyst" on staff. So there is no more true edge. I know it's hard for Oklahoma and Utah fans to understand this; but no one wanted to play in a meaningless sugar bowl game.

I think that Alabama wins regardless of which quarterback plays. If Tua plays it will be very ugly and I think that they still win pretty convincingly with Hurts.

What a great story it would be if Hurts started and won these next two games.

That’s patently false. Oklahoma has nothing going for it on D, but they have the best O line in college football and a top 3 recieving core. It’s more than just Kyler Murray.

I find it utterly amazing that Tua can play after a Grade II high ankle sprain. The complexity and technology of the "Tightrope Surgery" is amazing and worth interested parties time to read. Tua's entire football future will be on the line should he play. Google search doesn't suggest 4 weeks recovery is near enough time. I could be totally wrong, but I think all reports are an Alabama "smokescreen".

And you might be right; but, every video I saw was a stationary throw with zero follow through. Maybe I am watching the wrong channel? But, IMO, Saban is putting a lot of credibility on the line if it is not a smokescreen (win at all costs, players are only pawns, end justifies the means, etc.). I think we see at most a token, or last gasp Tua appearance. But, what does a 72 year old, non-medical set of eyes know?
