Attendance down for the 1st round ?

I thought this thread was about gate? Why all the talk about who eliminated whom when? IMO, the new format did affect the crowd at Trinity Friday. In the past there was a little anticipation in playing a team from NKY in round one. First, we hadn't seen this team and its always more interesting to see a team you have not seen. Secondly, there is the BGP factor. Playing a NKY team, 4 seed or not, is always good for some lively threads to build interest. This isn't true of playing the four seed from down the block that you defeated in week three. NKY has an advantage here because the teams in 4A NKY are pretty evenly matched and have a pretty good rivalry. I can see why the NKY teams would like it. I'm sure that Ryle/Dixie will always draw and Campbell was able to knock off Boone while their chances against Trinity wouldn't be so good.

Ouch! NKY 4A that was a shot:flame:

Less than 100 home fans for E.Jessamine 1st round game.

The last time you played FC it was senior night or homecoming and you had maybe 250-300 then! One of the few teams FC plays that has less fans than

we have on the road!

I'd say he hit the nail on the head. For whatever reason, there just never seemed to be much interest in games with that District outside of T up here...

As gametime put it, what does the band competition have to do w/the 1st round attendance. Please don't tell me that hundreds of people come to watch your band at half time. It won't surprise me if you say yes because I have been told before that "if it wasn't for the band, there wouldn't be a football team!" Figure that one out and the mother was dead serious!

I was at the state finals at Bowlinggreen there were 14,000 + there. Most of those bands and their parents went down Friday. I would think that would mean that alot of people that would have been at football games weren't there. I'm not saying that hundreds of people come to football games to see the band. I'm saying that people with kids in the band, weren't at alot of football games. And weather you want to admit it or not that is a lot of people. I have kids that do both. Obviously you don't. So before you come out and attack me you need to understand that are other things out there that are important.

You say the NKY teams, but the only NKY teams that probably would like the idea is the teams in 4A. In the other three classes in NKY it really doesn't help as much. Just like Im sure its the same for most districts in the state, Im sure there are few districts that might benefit from this, but I bet as a whole this new system hurts team more than it helps...

Attendence also was not helped by the fact that 80 bands were in Bowlinggreen for the state band tournament this weekend.

Maybe thats why NCC vs Holy Cross drew so well. No bands.:D

You are correct, I meant NKY 4A. I posted about NKY 4A because they have been our first round opponents for some time until the recent change.

Where is the "shot"? I stated that I missed playing NKY 4A in the first round. We are just as likely to win round one as always but it was more interesting (team, offense, defense, fans, etc.) facing a different foe. I was always able to strike up some conversation concerning the top seeded team in NKY 4A that would likely be an opponent down the road. Now that is not possible. The Rocks have already played the opponents that our first round opponent has played. No "shot", but I liked it the old way better.

Trimble had a good crowd, including a pep bus, a cheerleader bus and lots of parents, teachers, administrators, etc. They were willing to travel the 2 hours and sit in the cold to support their team at Danville. I actually was a little disappointed in the Danville crowd. I assume that their band was in Bowling Green and/or their thoughts were that they didn't have a lot to worry about.

It was an absolute horrid idea by the KHSAA...how many teams were playing the same team from the prior week who they had blown out? Where as, crossing districts, and playing teams not normally faced during the regular season, would add excitement. One more item of proof that shows the KHSAA is clueless
