Highlands played very well. The big difference was four Highlands turnovers two of which Covington Catholic turned into points and another that denied the Birds a score. Should be another thriller in Park Hills come playoff time.

 

That one should be circled on the calendar for EVERY high school football fan in northern Kentucky.

For Cov Cath fans, so was the Highlands stop on 4th and short the series before down on the Birds' 27 yard line.

Haven’t posted in a long time. Great game by both teams. Have been hesitant to even think the Birds are back. After tonight I feel confident they are contenders again . Highlands passes the look test this year with speed and decent size . Play hard and fly to the ball on defense. Just a few plays from pulling off a big win although I think this game now has them thinking they can play with anybody in 5A. Happy alum tonight! Big thanks to whomever allows us to watch these games live . Haven’t missed a game all year. Needed a little Dramamine after tonights feed though.

As an outsider looking in I feel the same way.

I am really looking forward to this rematch. Before I posted that Highlands had to play a perfect game and Cov Cath had to play their worst game. But now I think this game is a tossup. Highlands gave them 2 touchdowns and took them to the wire.

Back in 2011 Highlands (ranked #100 that year on CalPreps) beat CovCath at Park Hills 42-37 stopping CovCath in the red zone on 4th down. 5 point game. Highlands went on to win state that year going 15-0. I don't know how a close rivalry game makes CovCath any less than what they are now.

Very much so. Caleb has struggled to find his rhythm in all three of the "big games" this season - Columbus DeSales, Indy Chatard, and Highlands. Those are the kind of risks you run with a starting sophomore QB.

Yes but he is good. I like multiple year starters at QB because that experience is priceless. Eddie knows what he is doing.

4th and 7 was a great call. Both good teams, not great. Will be a thriller come play off time in Park Hills.

I was really excited to see Huddy in on offense. Should I not get my hopes for the playoff rematch?
