Is the playoff structure the same as last year? If Highlands was to win the first game at home would they most likely be traveling to Oldham Co? And if they win there it would be at Cov Cath most likely? Or is it all jumbled up again?

After seeing both Covington Catholic and Highlands in person earlier this year, I thought Covington Catholic would have no trouble getting the win. I expected Covington Catholic to have great success running the ball, and it sounds like that happened. I did not expect Covington Catholic to have trouble passing the ball. I did not expect Highlands to be able to run the ball on Covington Catholic's defense. This game should tell the Highlands offensive coordinator to focus more on the running game from here on out. If Highlands throws the ball more than 15 times in a game the rest of the year, it is a mistake. Great job Highlands.

The weather affected both teams passing games last night. It was pretty tough conditions for most of the 2nd half.

Looked like Cov Cath could have done more to utilize their receivers height advantage in shorter routes to help the QB.

I mean yeah it was close but he clearly got out of the end zone. Forward progress gives that to him. I wanted it too. There were other plays that if went Highlands way could have made a difference. I think CCH was exposed Friday evening by Highlands and if HHS doesn't take advantage next time around, assuming there is a next time, it will be a long night for the Birds I'm afraid. Just sayin!

I don’t think the RB is big enough at his height/stature to stick his body out of the endzone far enough with his back to the line and both feet still in the endzone. JMO

There were plays that could have turned it into a much larger victory if we look at buts...

 

Dropped passes, missed receivers that were open, a fumble deep in Highlands side, a few missed tackles that would have killed Highlands drives...

 

 

In the end a Colonel win on road in a hostile environment against a top ten team in their division.

I’ll give you home field advantage but I thought the rain helped the Colonels. Highlands pass game suffered with the rain. Cov Caths run game should benefit in the rain with their size advantage. The drop on the last Highlands drive slipped right through the most sure handed hands on the team. No rain and that game might have gone to OT. Weather is part of football though, have to play in the rain. Not an excuse, we lost. I’m just saying Highlands wants a dry field in the rematch please.

 

Mayer was pretty quiet though, how did that happen? If he has a big game in the likely rematch birds better not give gift TDS.

 

I will disagree with the rain hurting Highlands more than CCH. CCH may have attempted only a pass or two in the 2nd Half when they could have put it away. They are normally a balanced team. Caleb was really off in the 1st Half, and when the rain came in they were exclusively to hand it off to McGinness. He did his job, the Colonels receivers just weren’t given the opportunity. I hope they meet again in 5 weeks.

If you watch the video at the 3:23 mark, it is clear the ball was out of the end zone. I am saying not even close because any unbiased person who watches the video can see it is not a safety. Yes it was at the one yard line so it was close in that sense but there is no doubt from the video that it was not a safety.

VOR...I am 100% right...Until I am 100% wrong! I hadn't seen that video. I saw a couple other videos but they don't show that angle. Good call. I'm definitely man enough to admit when I am wrong. Thanks for that clip.
