Oh, I agree, absolutely. The only other 3 year starters who come to mind for Cov Cath are AJ Mayer and Jared Kees. Both won state championships as seniors.

Yes, Cov Cath looked mortal. It was a win for Cov Cath, but think that game was secretly a win for Highlands as well. Their confidence has to be growing after that and they have nothing to lose.

I think better weather and home field are worth 7-14 more points in the playoff if they meet.... And the weather is better...

I’ll give you home field advantage but I thought the rain helped the Colonels. Highlands pass game suffered with the rain. Cov Caths run game should benefit in the rain with their size advantage. The drop on the last Highlands drive slipped right through the most sure handed hands on the team. No rain and that game might have gone to OT. Weather is part of football though, have to play in the rain. Not an excuse, we lost. I’m just saying Highlands wants a dry field in the rematch please.

 

Mayer was pretty quiet though, how did that happen? If he has a big game in the likely rematch birds better not give gift TDS.

Back to the game. CovCath special team snafu really hurt them tonight. If the fake punt isn't converted, CovCath has short field to work with. Another score in that situation for the Colonels and this game may have gotten out of hand.

 

Anyway, always nice to get the W and learn what things need to be ironed out.

Starting LT Lucas Jones, starting MLB/FB Jacob Shriver, and starting DE John Lawrie were all out with injuries.

Cov Cath has been really suffering from the penalty bug the last few weeks. And the special teams have been woeful when it comes to penalties this season. Too many men ran out onto the field with the punt team tonight. Really?

At the end of the day, this was a great game. Honestly, I feel like Highlands outplayed CC. The three turnovers really killed them.

 

The Birds are lightyears ahead of where they were last year and the program will rebound. Good things coming.

 

Also, McGinness could possibly be the best RB in KY. He plays with an insane amount of grit and fire. The one where he ripped off 30-35 yards and they had a penalty and he came back the next play with 25 was awesome. Kid is a straight stud.
