Is anybody beside me getting tired of all the phone call/messages being left on your phone, or getting called all evening long by the politicians running for office?

 

Funny how when an election is near, they call and call, but if you try to call them after the campaign (and I am talking about both parties) you either wait for weeks for a return reply, or you never get anything back.

 

This year for the first time it (the calls) have gotten so bad that I have told callers that I won't vote for the person, if I get a call again from them. So far I will not vote for two different candidates because of all the negative call.....And yes, one of them without all the calls I would have voted for.......

I agree. I'm sick of the commercials this year. Over the years, political campaign commercials have gotten more and more negative. But, this year seems to be the worst I can recall. You literally have no idea what any of the candidates stand for because they just present a laundry list of all the "evil things" the other candidate is up to.

 

I may pack my darts into the voting booth Tuesday.:thumb:

Every election cycle it seems like it gets worse. I get really disgusted at the ads. However, some are so blatently bad that they are almost funny...

How many people wrote letters on behalf of the "banker?" Ken did. 3 big Davis supporters did. Lets move on to something else.

I am a registered Republican, and I have received 8 pieces of literature from the Davis camp about Lucas, over the last 3 days.

I agree.....I really am sick of these commericals....I don't really care what so and so did wrong, or why they're an awful person....I want to know what you are going to do and how you're going to do it. If you can't tell me that, then get off my blasted TV!

Like Sting, I find many of these commercials funny. It's almost as if Hitler and Stalin are battling each other for my vote, with Pol Pot running as an independent that just can't get any ink ....

 

The real annoyance to me is the incessant calling being conducted by the Davis campaign. To be honest, I would vote for Davis (Lucas did not show well in the debate), but I'm getting two or three automated calls a day now from the Davis side. They know that you might not be home during the day, so they call when it's dinner time. Just what I need. Some pre-recorded message that the world will come to an end if I foolish enough to vote for Stalin - er, I mean Lucas.

The commercials are horrible.

 

I had drinks with(and not knowing until after a while) an individual running for a position in my area. He was a great guy, and very nice to talk to, this was about a month or two ago. He was a really nice laid back guy, and even took the time to explain some of the differences between what he was running for and some of the other candidates we were aware of.

 

Now I'm seeing all of these smere ads especially in the mail, and it just disgusts me. I couldn't believe the stuff they'd put in these campaign ads, and I'm hoping he beats the snot out of his competition just for spite.

Thankfully we have cell phones that have numbers out of the local calling area that we now live in. We have not received any calls for the campaigns. We did have a candidate's wife ring our door bell and leave some brochures, but that has been the extent of it in our area. I generally don't watch much local TV so I have not seen many of the campaign ads.

 

Though most that I do see are for Lexington mayor or sheriff. I don't live in Lexington and just tune them out.

The statistics that show that the American voter responds to negative advertisements more than positive (or non-negative) ads. When we as an electorate become a more educated and sophisticated electorate, then 90% of the trash we send to Washington, Frankrort, ect. won't be around; but it's up to us to make the change.

You guys think you have it bad. Imagine if the ads are ABOUT YOU and they are false. In the Professor's local newspaper, my opponent advertised that I had said I would deny prisoners medical furloughs and cost the county thousands of medical bills and further, that I hide evidence from criminals and deny them their constitutional rights. The first one is clearly false.
