October 30, 200619 yr All I could think about and worry about before this game, was Vicks speed. He could throw us off balance and he did just that. I can't help but think that our D would've looked ten times better with Thurman and Pollack in the game. We play the cards we're delt and we won't have either of them for this season, so oh well. But I don't think our D's that rough, it's just not playing with all the key players..

The only thing that keeps him from being an elite QB is inconsistency. Two fumbles in the first half we should have recovered could have changed a lot. On to Baltimore...

Since you and GT seem to want to debate this, let me jump in with what really happened on the play. On that down and distance almost every time you see it in the NFL, you see the same defense the Bengals employed. The reasoning is simple, you've got 10 yards of real estate that mean nothing to the defense, why waste a bunch of guys up there when you can saturate the part of the field that means the most with your players? The problem on the play in question was Justin Smith blew his containment rush by using a spin method to the inside, that allowed Vick to roll out to Smith side and throw a straight line angle pass. If Smith stays in containment, Vicks site range and the angle of the pass are much more difficult. It wasn't the call it was the execution.

I've read more than a few posts on here tonight talking about "abandoning" the running. I've also read more than a few posts calling for the Bengals to "open" up the offense. After Tampa, people were standing in line calling for the team to open the offense up and throw more. What do people want? I guess we could give Carson two balls and he could hand one to Rudi and throw the other deep on every play, but the other teams may start to complain. Folks they did score 27 against a pretty good defense. This isn't Playstation.

Folks they did score 27 against a pretty good defense. This isn't Playstation. Running the ball and throwing over top. Rudi had what 12 carries??? We threw two "bombs" I remember. One was 6 and the other would have been if it hadn't been overthrown. I think we are throwing underneath "way" too much. in Madden you throw underneath to open up the deep ball, but in real football you have to run the ball just so the other team respects it and you have to throw the ball deep to open up the middle of the field. Throwing short slants and screens over and over again didn't work too well.

October 30, 200619 yr It's always fun to watch the bridge jumpers after a loss... :thumb: This was another one that the Bengals should have had. I for one will not be jumping off any bandwagon. My favorites are teh Bengals, Bears, Browns and Giants and it will remain that way. Now lets hope that the Bengals can get ready to get a MUCH needed win vs. Baltimore. Oh yeah, another one of my favorites is WHOEVER is playing the Ravens. WHO DEY!!!! This Bengal team is playing a very tough schedule and they will be just fine. The Bengals will be there come playoff time.:ylsuper: Mark it down. On a bright note.....the Stealers lost to the Raiders.:lol: :lol: :lol:
