The key is what DMC said above. To avoid the running clock, a team will need to run the ball well enough to reduce possessions and have some control of the clock.

The overlooked part of this running clock is the Covington Catholic defense. The dominance of their defense is why they have the running clock streak.

It almost makes me wonder if some opposing coaches will approach the game with CovCath trying to avoid a running clock instead of trying to win the game.

NKY is a power area for KY football. Having one team win every game by a running clock in an area that has a rep for playing string football is a bad look. Great for the Colonels. Bad for NKY.

Trinity has ruined football in Jefferson County? I don't agree with your comment. If those other N. Ky. teams are winning against their other opponents, then all the running clock streak does is verify how good Covington Catholic is. It is not a knock against the other teams in N. Ky.

It’s really been just this past year. Its not like this run has been going on for a long time. Cov Cath has had superior talent. Before that it was Highlands. Two years ago they lost to Ryle and the year before that they had a losing record, also losing to Ryle. I would say that right now they have just accumulated a ton of talent but it will most likely even back out, especially at the higher classes.
