I was thinking evidence can allow him to be detained or arrested but if charges aren’t pressed then he is free to go. There’s a reason that cops become familiar with homes that involve domestic violence and visit them multiple times. This isn’t on the cops.

It might not be on the cops, but I can’t say that Courtney is a liar, I have no basis. Regardless, he can still be charged by the state if there is proven evidence.

If Urban reported it to the proper protocols and Gene Smith didn’t delve into it any further then his job 100% should be on the line. That would mean he’s batting 1.000 when it comes to screwing up situations with football coaches at OSU. I believe Urban did his job. Why lie in the presser to begin with? You usually only lie to protect yourself. So why lie unless you realized crap this got out, when I didn't think it would have. I need to try to protect myself and hope this all ends with his firing and nobody ask anything.

 

Him lying in the presser shows he knew he screwed up by keeping him. When if he truly didn't know how bad it was between them. He could have came out and said I messed up in believing my friend that he never did anything. Instead he chose to lie. Do you think he ever comes out and retracts his statement and say well actually I did know, if the story would have died as soon as he fired him? I agree he may be telling the truth now. because he knew he bury himself more if he didn't, so he was forced to. He would have never told the truth if he wasn't now backed in a corner. But why lie to begin with. You only do that if your trying to protect yourself and hoping nothing comes out.

 

I get it you dont want your favorite program to lose one of the top coaches in America. Especially in a year where a championship is in reach. But come on guys Meyer screwed this one up and you know it. With both 2009 and 2015. Then their wives being close, he probably knew a lot of the times when the wife called the police. Because she would have told his wife. Yes he chose to keep him around because of his mentor. But that doesnt make it any more right. Urban played with fire by keeping him and he knew that too. Which is why he initially lied during the presser.

 

Does it suck for him, yes. Because he is not the one who did the acts. Firing him wouldn't have done anything to stop it from happening either. However with all that he probably knew, there was zero reason to keep him around this long mentor or not. He played with fire by doing it and he knew it. So it is his own fault if he were to be fired. He had to know the risk he was taking by keeping him all this time.

Lots of reasons why he would lie to the media. The first of which he already told us.

After Urban cleared himself of wrongdoing? What would you expect us to do? Throw him into the fire without any evidence like everyone else is doing? Nah. Not how I roll.
