Meh...the late 80's and early 90's were a blur to me.:idunno:

Pikeville and Paducah top of their classes and Monroe County with a good ranking in 2A. Also Trigg was good that year

Warren Central before Greenwood and South Warren. ‘Twas beautiful.

 

1989 was their best in school history and the last before Greenwood opened and began messing it all up.

I was thinking '87 or '89 til I read the answer.

 

Danville was very good in both years and 9-1 coming into the playoffs.

 

Pikeville leading the pack meant they were on their 3 straight streak.

Fairdale was real good back then. I remember around that time St. X beating nationally ranked Fairdale in the playoffs. Fairdale was ranked in the top 25 of USA Today HS rankings.

NKY AAA with three of top 6. How did Beechwood finish, not often are they outside the top 3. Was that pre Yeagle?

Beechwood was 9-5 in Bernie Barre's next-to-last year. Made the Class A semi-finals before losing at home to eventual champion Pikeville 49-20.

Bernie Barre was the skipper at Beechwood through '90 or '91. Yeagle built upon the foundation that Coach Barre had created.
