He has great instincts for locating the ball both as a receiver and as a defender. Great jumping ability, quickness, timing and Division 1 speed. It might be a toss up,but I think his size might be better suited for a receiver.

What position would be best for him in college, as he plays both ways, I believe?

 

He reminds me a lot of former Somerset WR John Cole who went on to play for Vanderbilt when looking at him on the Offensive Side.

 

Solid but not freakish speed or wiggle, but exceptional leaping and ball skills.

 

On the Defensive side of the ball is where Smith really shines to me and where he blows Cole out of the water. I think he is going to be a great Safety at the next level with his ability to react and high point balls. He is the consummate Center Fielder on the gridiron. His instincts are truly special.

 

He reminds me of Harrison Smith on the Defensive side of the football. Smith was a star at Knoxville Catholic then had a great career at Notre Dame and has made a great career in the NFL.

 

Not saying Smith will be playing on Sundays, but his skill set really reminds me of Harrison Smith's coming out of High School.

1:10 shows him high pointing footballs. I dont think Reese is as good in run support as Harrison Smith is right now, but with his natural abilities I could see that phase of his game rapidly improving once he adds weight in a college weight program

I can get on board with that comparison. Reese doesn't have the prototypical size for a safety that Harrison has. But like you said, his vertical and ball skills help make up for it some.

 

I'm a big ND supporter and Harrison Smith's one of my favorite golden domers ever. So comparing Reese to him is lofty praise in my book.

This is what I have thought for a couple of years now but I guess we are the only one's thinking that. Still think he could be a free safety/nickle back and play for a long time.

Most fans didn't know that Reese fractured his left hand on the second play of the Belfry game while making a tackle. This was the same hand that he fractured earlier. His hand was really swollen last night in the Corbin game. Was barely able to get a glove over it. The team knew but did a good job not letting the word get out. Talk about really laying it on the line for the team. He is one tough kid.
