May 22, 20188 yr Folks want to keep their guns, correct? My solution allows responsible, law abiding gun owners to keep their guns. How many school shootings came from kids who got their guns in some shape, fashion or form from their parents? If you are a gun owning parent and your kid has access to your guns and then shoots up the school then whoever owns those guns should go to jail for life. Or hell, give them the death penalty. I’m good with that too. If you can’t keep your guns out of your kid’s hands(and chances are the parents know that their kid has issues) and your kid goes and shoots up the school then you don’t deserve to own guns and that blood is on your hands. People say all of the time how they shouldn’t have to lose their guns because other folks aren’t responsible with theirs. I agree 100%. If the folks who allow these kids to get their hands on the guns don’t face any consequences then folks will never be smarter about making sure their kids don’t have access to their guns. I’m biased but I don’t see how anyone could have a problem with this solution. Forget a civil suit. Criminal charges changes everything. You are describing a kid (a murderous school shooting kid) committing a bunch of felonies by taking weapons belonging to his parents. We disagree on this one.
May 22, 20188 yr No it wouldn't! I guess a kid could sneak into a bathroom or find some place to do that. It would increase the chances of him getting caught before shooting though.
May 22, 20188 yr In general terms everyone, remember a SRO (School Resource Officer) is just that, a "Resource Officer" and not normally the kind of Officer you would choose to fill such a tactical and dangerous job as protecting school children in active shooter situations. School Resource Officers are normally smart, experienced, politicians filling a multitude of needs. Or put another way, I fully expect a lot of them to be gunned down and unsuccessful in their attempts to stop active shooters because it is not normally their area of expertise. Coming full circle here, judging the effectiveness of armed men and women in schools based on SRO responses is inherently flawed in my opinion. Spit-balling here, maybe we should have SSO (School Seal Officers) that specialize in responding to and killing active shooters. Each school should have a minimum of two School Seal Officers and more in any school with over 500 soft targets in the building. I could go on and on about this topic but I think everyone gets the idea.

I have already covered that in other threads, I think Teachers should be armed as a last line of defense taking up defensive positions in their classrooms. Remember, if we were serious about protecting children the Teachers would be a part of a comprehensive plan to defend against and kill school shooters. Again, this whole issue exposes "The System."

Irresponsibility on the parents part. Whoever owned those guns, the blood is on their hands because they weren’t responsible enough to keep their guns out of their kids hands. It ain’t hard to keep your possessions out of your kids hands. He failed and a school got shot up as a result. He’s just as guilty.

It is hard to make a third party responsible for someone else's felonies.

Let my grandson’s school get shot up while he is in school and come to find out it is because a dad wasn’t responsible with his guns. I’m showing up to dad’s house, job, favorite restaurant, gym, wherever. I’ll find dad and Dad will see these hands because I don’t own any guns. He’ll get these hands though.
