I don't listen to him or like him; however, what is wrong with that speculation? Also, if true, what would be wrong with Fox doing that?

 

I think that some people may overreact at first and say that Fox shouldn't have done this to influence people, but I have no problem with it. It probably is what needs to be done so people see the true and devastating effects. If he is trying to influence for the election so be it. If the issue at hand were accesibility for those in wheelchairs, would people like Rush claim that someone didn't take medication, so they couldn't walk. We should see the effects of the disorder. 20 years ago, what if someone in a wheelchair tried to roll themselves down a flight of stairs in front of a building to showcase an issue?

Well, according to the link, Limbaugh may have made up a comment attributed to Fox about his sometimes not taking medication to accentuate his condition. I wouldn't doubt for a minute that Limbaugh just concocted it.

 

More or less, he accused Fox of doing it ... and probably without any evidence other than his own twisted thinking.

 

There was a special about Fox on E tv one time where it was brought up, although I don't remember if Fox was talking about it or one of the other people interviewed. It was when he testified before congress and wanted them to see the effects of the disease.

Personally, I don't care if Fox did it or not. Parkinson's is a debilitating disease, and if stem-cell research is his best hope for a cure, I'm all for him doing what he can to further it.

Kind of like making a "federal case" out of a patients right to die, which has always been a family decission in order to appease a certain wing of a political party. Pictures of Terri following the ballon sure stirred emotions.

Stem cell research is available in Missouri, legally and unrestricted, as it is in other states.

Amendment 2 is on the ballot in Missouri. It is asking for a ban on "somatic nuclear transfer". Neighboring states have the ban and Missouri has tried to pas one for a few years.

By passing a ban it would CRIMINALIZE anyone attempting to do somatic nuclear transfer. What is somatic nuclear transfer? Simply cloning. They same method that gave the world, Dolly the cloned sheep.

What is funny is today Rush was expecting people to take what he said in this manner, when if you heard it in context it was not near as bad at all as people are making it. Rush cited many examples of bipartisan support for real health research and fighting these diseases. Heck I think he even has a charity golf tourney for something like this every year.

All he was saying is that Fox was being the brilliant actor that he is and was taking the opportunity to advance his cause, and even Fox admited that he didn't take his meds so it would show the fullblown natural effects of the untreated diease to influence people by the image. According to Rush the bill Fox was promoting is a bill that is about legalizing human cloning not stem cell research, the author added the name stem cell and a few little points about stem cells to help push through the cloning. So if you are against cloning you would have to go on record as being against stem cell research.

Personally I don't know anything about it either way. So don't think I am defending or attacking Rush's or Fox's position. It is just funny that if you listened to the show he said this would be the response this got when in it hit the rest of the media.

:thumb: :thumb: Unless anyone has ever had anyone that they love or themselves, that could benefit from Stem-cell research, I really don't think they can understand the passion that some of us have for this to go on.

 

I thought it was awful and completely over the top for this man to sit there and shake his whole body in order to demostrate how Michael Fox was shakes from this horrible disease.

Rush lives over the top. However, I seem to recall some mean jokes and comments during the time he had his hearing loss.

So, no new discoveries (in any scientific field) should be pursued until we know exactly what it is we're going to discover? That's like Columbus being forced to draw a map of the new world before he could sail out of port.
