That stuff on his hand was suspicious in the first inning. I dont want to think that he has to sink that low to feel like he will win. It just looks fishy to me that he went and cleaned it off after the first inning.

Well maybe he wanted to get rid of any thought that he might be cheating. I would rather him wash it off then keep it on there.

I dont think so. But im not sure. I think he should have been ejected. I think it was tavarez for the cards who got tossed in a playoff game not too long ago for having a spot on his hat.

I really don't see any reason for Kenny Rogers to be cheating.

Rogers pitched a great game tonight. I thought Jones might give it away.

They asked him to wipe whatever it was on his hands off, and even after that he pitched a most excellent game.

I just heard part of his press conference after the game. He was ask about the "substance" and he replied that it was nothing more than a clump of dirt, that he didn't notice it in the first inning and simply washed it off before he went out for the 2nd. Rodgers said that the umpire never mentioned it to him at all and that he noticed it and washed it off. Wether it was or not, I don't know but I do know that he pitched as good and better w/o whatever it was.

I have obviously never met the man but he imo is an incerdible jerk but he is also one heck of a pitcher and has been lights out in the post season.

If he hadn't pitched seven more shutout innings then there would be a SERIOUS issue here, but the fact that he did helps his case.

He cheated & got away with it. WOW! (that never happens huh) They said 60-70% of pitchers use it. Rogers was the only one caught. He did wash it off & continued to pitch a great game so hats off to him for that.

It has been spotted on his hand at least on two other outings. Now he is the oldest guy on the team, I don't think he's playing in the dirt before games... Something is up

This is exactly what it was in my opinion and the location of the substance, was more a giveaway than anything.

 

Pinetar on the throwing thumb palm, does several things. It provides a little movement on an overhand or 3/4 release curveball, as if release properly the ball will have to be thrown over the left pointer finger, after it has came in contact with the sticky substance. This will cause the ball, to break sharper and late.

 

The other thing pinetar does, in cold weather the fingertips aren't nearly as flexible and therefore, the grip is often a little more tighter which takes of mph's....so it helps create a better feel for the seams when cold.
