I think the Cats play much better Saturday. Really, no one played great tonight but that's OK. Move on.

Good win against a good team and if anyone forgot, Steph Curry went to Davidson.

The winning percentage for a team not making a 3 pointer in a game can't be good. Very impressive to win a game in 2018 without hitting a 3.

Ayton can't buy a shot today he probably won't miss on Saturday.

UK shot better than 50% from the floor for the third straight game. And that was with a horrible shooting night by SGA (5-13 and two of the made baskets were on open layups after steals).

SGA was player of the game in my eyes.

Always good to get the first one out of the way. UK most likely won't be favorite any other game in this tournament, unless Buffalo wins tonight. So they will be able to just go out and play.

Arizona getting a good whistle the first half. They only committed two fouls and a couple of out of bounds calls went there way still Buffalo still up two at the half.

This was a great win for Kentucky. Davidson was +11 from long range and Kentucky still found a way to win. That's all that matters.

Wow Buffalo looks great tonight. About as good as you can play. They play like that Saturday and our Cats may get knocked out too. Definitely have to be ready Saturday.

SGA missed 4 or 5 layups. If he hits them it's not all that close. Looked like good Kentucky in the first half and reverted back to bad Kentucky in the second half. Held on when it counted, though.

Glad to see the Cats pull out a win when they didn't make ANY three pointers and Davidson. We shot very well from the FT line. Has to be the best performance from the line that we have had all year.

 

I didn't really care about the streak to be honest. It was cool but I'm glad it ended during a game that we won. I knew it was long but I didn't realize it was from the year I was born!

This game will be determined in two places:

* Davidson's three-point line. They are one of the best perimeter shooting teams in America facing off with one of the best perimeter defending teams in America. If Davidson shoots 35%+ from the arc, they are in the game.

 

* The glass. Can Davidson keep UK off the offensive glass and limit 2nd and 3rd chances for the Cats? UK gets 35% of their misses back, one of the best percentages in America; Davidson only let's their opponents get 23% of their misses back, also, one of the best percentages in the country.

 

Two teams whose strengths match up with something their opponent does a nice of defending. Davidson actually has decent size for a non power conference team, but they have very little depth.

 

I fully expect UK to win the game, but these running-clock / 30 / No chance / as many as they want predictions are over-the-top. This will be a game, and if Davidson can create and knock-down open looks from deep, it will keep all of you very interested late into the contest.

 

1. Davidson shot 33% from the arc for the game. They were definitely in the game.

 

2. UK only got 6 of their 25 misses back (24%), basically right on Davidson's average on the season. While UK handled them on the glass overall, predictably, Davidson did a great job in limiting UK's 2nd chances.
