2019-2022 Draft Football Realignment

There is absolutely no reason why some schools will be traveling over 120 miles one way for district games (multiple times), even in a 6 class system. The person who put this together needs some geography lessons in many areas. Obviously there will still be some outliers, but why would you not set it up where travel is the most minimal possible across the board. Also, you cant just look at the map and make plans as if people travel as the crow flies.

So who will be the early favorites for each class based on these moves?

As a Louisville HS football guy. I like the proposed district changes around here. Adding some really good changes to 5A’s. I love that male and manual can go back to final game of regular season. CAL and Desales should make for some very good district games.

At first glance regarding 6A only.

The "Big 3" are all in different districts.

Male and Manual are in different districts so they can resume playing their rivalry game the last game of the year if they choose to.

Trinity is in a 3 team district. They have enough trouble getting games as it is, this adds 2 more they now have to come up with.

From a geographical standpoint Oldham County would have been a better fit in Trinity's district.

I'm a little disappointed X and Male are no longer in the same district.

Hopefully all of the “big 3” will continue to play each other. We know Trinity and X will. Hopefully Male will agree to play both.

I imagine they will. Better to play them once in the regular season to see how you match up versus only one time in the playoffs. Plus I don't see Male backing down from X and T in general.

We travel over 2 hours to 2 of our district games back when there were 4 classes.

No sense in that at all. Im not sure there is a basketball region in the state where 2 region opponents are 2 hours apart

Pretty sure we had a few of those as well in basketball.

The distance between Clinton County and Todd County Central in Region 4 is 2.5 hours, while the distance between Letcher County Central and Powell County in Region 14 is 2 hours. Those are outliers; most are much tighter.

Fort Knox to Adair Co. has to be every bit of 2 solid hours in the 5th Region.

1 hour and 36 minutes, per Google Maps, if you go down 31 to 55. If you go down I-65 to Cumberland Parkway, it is 1 hour and 55 minutes.

You can tell by the schools moving down in class that the decline in the coal industry is causing an exodus of students from the coal regions.

We've discussed this at work quite often. In 5A, the "eastern" schools are the Laurels, Pulaskis, and Whitley County. It seems like every other school expect Johnson Central is decreasing and I don't see how that will change.

As a Ludlow Panther fan it is good to see Beechwood finally move up. I'm sure fans of Bellevue and Dayton feel the same way. Yes NCC is coming back to 1A but their enrollment is dropping and they aren't going to be the power team that Beechwood was.
