Vikings 29 Saints 24

Featured Replies

Lack of Football I.Q./situation awareness. Tell your boys “let them catch it, grab them, hold on and wait for help and we win”. Dummy goes for “The Hit” instead of settling and wrapping and they lose. See what you hit and grab what you see the Saints win.

If the line is Team A -5 and the majority of the bets on Team B to cover. If Team A wins by 6 then Vegas wins.

I understand how it works.

Bortles and Keenum both got boob jobs and hit the gym a little harder this past year and have turned themselves into viable options if you get turned away by the first couple girls at the bar. Foles might still be a 3 I’m not sure.

I see you working, and you're right. There's only a couple in the league that are 8 or above.

I thought they didnt set the lines.

They win money if it is 50/50

Yeah, but not as much as they'd like. Trust me, the sports books oddsmakers cheer for certain teams. For example, Vegas probably took a bath today on the Steelers game with the over getting blown out in the first half, and Pittsburgh not covering. The line on the Steelers game opened at -7.5, and it didn't drop until this morning, to -7.

That means a ton of money came in late on Jax, but not enough for a huge swing. The books got hurt on that game.

That one play wipes out a pretty solid rookie season for Williams. What in the world happened there. Was pulling for Drew Brees and the Saints, but I like Zimmer too.

Some solid football games yesterday.

They win "the Juice", if it's 50/50.

But they are setting it to get the public to bet basically 50/50. So they are setting the line.

So they missed by about 70 percent.

Thank you Jim Schue.

Geniuses :sarcastic: ... how could that happen to "Vegas"?

But let's not talk about this. Let's talk about that 5.5 point spread in the Vikings game.

One or two posters mentioned it already. When I watched it live and the first replay, I was saying the same thing ... what in the world? Sort of like the William Jackson play on LeVeon Bell.

Then if you watch it closely, you can see Williams pulled up on the hit because he was afraid he was going to get flagged for pass interference. And he would have. He got there before the ball. The mistake he made was not breaking down, keeping Diggs in front of him and just making a tackle in bounds. Obviously if he does that the game is over even if Diggs makes the catch.

What's your beef with them?

They're absolutely more intelligent when it comes to sports than anyone on here...

The Fox guys in the studio commented on the timeout used by NO just before the play. They noted that the team was probably told - no penalties since the clock would likely run out. And other than the result that happened a penalty was about the only thing that would have worked for Minnesota.

You can just image the last words from sideline huddle being - 'no penalties!'.

You are probably right that they are more intelligent. It is their business. I certainly hope they are more intelligent than me because I don't bet and I don't care what the over/under is on any game.

My beef is they miss a lot - yet people act like they never make a mistake. My beef is they aren't even really picking winners and losers in games - they are picking what they expect the betting public to put their money on in a game. And then the line can move a good amount because they get it wrong on how the betting public sees a game yet when the score is within a point of where the betting public moved the final line to - Vegas is genius. Many, many people think Vegas knows all, is never are wrong and even has the fix in. When they get within a point of the final score, that one game becomes proof they are geniuses. When the line misses by a mile like in the Steelers game, people say nothing. They aren't even trying to pick winners and losers in games. All they are picking when they set an opening line is who the betting public believes will win or lose. Bottom line, Vegas misses a lot of times and is over hyped.

No offense, but this reads like someone who doesn't bet and doesn't have any interest in betting.

They hit way more frequently than they miss. They make hand over fist every single day. If they weren't highly intelligent and good at what they do, that wouldn't be the case.
