Got 525. My plan was 10 rep EMOM for a total of 600. Some of the middle rounds got me.

Well done, but it sounds miserable.

I know there's a triathlon-er around here somewhere. I'm curious what training you would recommend to be prepared by July? That seems like more than enough time to me.

I'm still undecided between the "Sprint" and "Olympic" group because I've never ran more than three miles at once.

Some other questions that come to mind:

What is the proper attire for biking and running following a swim?

Any way to prevent chaffing?

What's the ideal bike set up?

Will I regret agreeing to this race?

How is your swimming?

Definitely not something I'm anxious to do again. There were three of us that did it for a 9/11 workout. We were trying to get 1200 total, if I recall correctly we made it.

Form may not be great, but I ain't gonna drown.

My knees would hurt for weeks

After the past month, I was prepared for the volume. It really wasn't that bad, physically. It was sooooo boring. Work 35 seconds, rest 25 seconds...over and over again.

Definitely wasn’t prepared for the CNS fatigue today. Should have figured it out with my inability to jump rope warming up. Fought through. Terrible workout today. Kettlebell for Fighters and swings... stupid. Kettlebell for fighters is going to do wonders though. I felt it today.

Been a rough week. Being out of commission for basically Oct - half of Jan took a serious toll on my conditioning. It's coming back but a lot slower than I anticipated. Have 3 weeks until the first Open workout. Hopefully can get at least back to were I was last fall.

You rang? I have wayyy too much triathlon experience and can be of some assistance!

Yes, there are millions of training programs. I've never gone strictly by one, but many people to bounce ideas off of. Plenty of time to train.

What is the proper attire for biking and running following a swim? They have tri-suits that you can wear throughout. It is what I do, but do what is most comfortable for you. If you are doing a sprint - even for a beginner - I would not recommend changing clothes. Depending upon comfort and skill level one may want to change for an Olympic. Again, I would not. Some of the tri-suits are one piece. I have the upper body of a linebacker but the butt/legs of an eight year old girl, so I wear separate pieces. I wear one thing the entire time... even during all day events I have done.

Any way to prevent chaffing? Body glide and or Vaseline. The longer you go the more places you will chafe... and in places on your body you didn't know existed.

What's the ideal bike set up? Do you have a bike? Wanting to purchase one? I have a road and triathlon bike. Very loaded question.

Will I regret agreeing to this race? No. Well, maybe while you are doing it. But you will soon forget about it and sign up for another one and in no time getting an IM tattoo on your body after completing an epic 140.6 endurance challenge.

Answers above.

I'm doing a tough mudder in June and I'm already regretting agreeing to do it!

On the bike, I'm not sure which would better suit the course. There are a few significant elevation changes, both up and down, on the Olympic course, but it isn't terribly intimidating.

I've been back and forth on buying one for my daily commute in the warmer months, but those road bikes can get way up there in price.

I'm down 8.5 lbs. in the last two weeks. The only thing I've changed so far is diet. Will be cutting out diet soda and hitting the gym again very soon.

It turns out that it makes a big difference when you go from 15,000 calories a day to 2,000 :lol2:

It is worth the investment. Get a nice road bike and you can use it for a race, commute to work, and the health benefits will more than pay for itself in no time.

Is there a brand or model in particular you would recommend? Is there a brand or model in particular the biking community would recommend? Or the Triathlon community?
