February 8, 20188 yr Author I TRY to stick w/ a paleo mentality. Try is the key word. I really like Mark Sisson's Primal way of eating. Gotta live a little. I've looked at zone a little but seems to complicate it more than it needs to be. I've done paleo before and had great results from it. What I did was more after Rob Wolfe's program. He's hard core and I just couldn't stay on it. That whole live a little thing. Right now I'm doing a keto but cleaner than most keto plans I looked at.
February 11, 20188 yr Author Friday night: 10 rounds for time 9 Dumbbell Thrusters 35 Double Unders Haven’t hit a lick the rest of the weekend
February 13, 20188 yr Author Hit 200lbs on my clean and jerk last night (power clean). My previous best was 210 (I believe) so getting close. Followed it up with: 3 rounds for time 21 Cal Row 15 Toes to Bar 9 Dumbbell Snatch, alternating hands, 55# Probably felt as good as I have in months with my cardio. Was able to push pretty had through the metcon and was really only limited by my capacity on the T2B.
February 13, 20188 yr I forgot to check in Friday. I've lost 11 lbs. My first "minor" goal was 10 lbs. so step 1 complete. So far, all weight loss has been from complete overhaul of diet. I'll be getting back in the gym/pool soon.
February 13, 20188 yr Yesterday I had one rep max on my thruster of 185. I believe I could have broke 200 pounds; however, I didn't want to risk failure and gives me room to increase next time. Felt good about that. Today looks like it could be long (at least for me) WOD: 2x 21-15-9 Alternating arm dumbbell snatches Knees to elbows Calories on the old assault bike

It feel like an unnecessarily complex activity/lift for not much in return.
February 14, 20188 yr I am not really sure I understand that Turkish get up. It feel like an unnecessarily complex activity/lift for not much in return. Major benefits to the TGU. Shoulder Mobility/Stability, Core/Hip Strengthening, Hip Mobility, General Coordination. It is actually a great movement for us as we get older. The simple process of getting up off the ground is something that we (Americans) take for granted. Forgive me for not providing the link, but there is an interesting study out about the differences between nursing homes in Japan and America and the longevity/injury rates of their residents. Japanese residents both lived longer and had lower injury rates that resulted from falls. The main thing that was attributed to this was the fact that in the Japanese homes their beds are typically on the ground. Each and every day they have to get down to the floor and stand back up multiple times. It is something that is so simple when you think about it, but we in the States take it for granted.
February 14, 20188 yr It is actually a great movement for us as we get older. So it is perfect for me.
February 14, 20188 yr I am not really sure I understand that Turkish get up. It feel like an unnecessarily complex activity/lift for not much in return. Try it with a LIGHT KB. It will be easy, but you'll get the steps (up to your elbow, up to seating w/ a straight arm, BRIDGE...hardest part, sweep the leg under to get to 1 knee, brace and step up. Then go in reverse.) It, literally, is the worst exercise on Earth. Hades is 24 hours of Turkish Get-ups.

Problem is I do it so infrequently I never can remember the order of moves from time to time that I do it.
