December 27, 20178 yr No this isn't silly. Pit bulls continue to maul children and older people all the time. The statistics don't lie. As a father, there's just no chance I'm trusting a pit bull around my children. I wouldn't let kids around Pit Bulls with bad owners. For whatever reason Pit Bulls attract themselves to bad owners unproportionately to other breeds. It's not the dogs fault. They are more aggressive than other breeds. But when raised and trained properly they can be very fine dogs. Its all about the owner. A lot of Pit Bull owners suck.
December 27, 20178 yr You quoted a post saying that a pit bull could kill their children but that their children could not kill a pit bull. You said that is true of any dog breed. That is simply false. Now you're backtracking tho change it to attack or list other breeds. Weak. So you are saying no child could kill a dog? Thats simple not true.

December 27, 20178 yr So you are saying no child could kill a dog? Thats simple not true. You are not reading what they said. A child would get killed by a pit bull but a child could not kill a pit bull. A child could kill a poodle.

Why own them? to show how tough you are? Just get some barbed wire tats instead.

December 27, 20178 yr Other dogs maul people as well daily, why single out one breed?Because a disproportionate number of those attacks are from pit bulls. You can’t even argue it, the numbers don’t lie.
December 27, 20178 yr Same. A pit bull is capable of killing my kids. My kids are not capable of killing a pitbull. My original post. So is any other dog breed. I’ll attempt to explain my logic. 1. My 10 yr old plays outside with other kids pretty much daily. 2. My kid is never more than a couple of houses away, and I can always see where he is. 3. If he was attacked by a dog, he and his friends could likely run or fight off the dog until myself or the closest parent arrives. 4. If he was attacked by a pit bull or another fighting breed, that is a different scenario. Chances are my son and his friends would not be able to run or fight off the dog, and would be seriously injured and could die from a pit bull attack, before help arrived. 5. All dogs can attack people. Undisputed. Have witnessed some occasional aggression from a Yorkshire Terrior pup. 6. WE KNOW that not all pit bulls or mixes are violent. WE KNOW that some people are convinced they are the greatest pet ever! Wonderful! 7. However—my sole point is to explain my belief that my child has a much greater chance of surviving an “other breed” attack versus a pit bull/pit bull mix attack. Therefore, as a parent, I am not a fan of pit bulls. Carry on....
December 27, 20178 yr Because a disproportionate number of those attacks are from pit bulls. You can’t even argue it, the numbers don’t lie. I cant copy the link from the other thread but more kids kill kids in a year than pit bulls.
December 27, 20178 yr I would FULLY support a 100% mandatory across the board sterilization law for pitbulls. You can post all of the snarky "look at how vicious my pitbull is, sitting here curled up next to my kid" photos that you want, it doesn't change the fact that the breed was intentionally created by humans to be aggressive and relentless. And furthermore, you're not going to be getting an ounce of sympathy from me if your freaking pitbull decides it wants to try and tear the arm off of your kid...or if it decides one day that it's in the mood to kill you and eat your spleen like the Virginia girl's dogs did.
December 27, 20178 yr Here's another pit bull attack from the news headlines from the last couple of weeks. This was a puppy that went after a 2 year old. The adoption agency hosting the event claims that all of their dogs are "thoroughly vetted" prior to being included in their adoption events. Sounds like they didn't do their vetting thoroughly enough. Pit bull mauls 2-year-old boy at pet adoption event

December 27, 20178 yr Story doesnt really tell you much. Were the neighbors in their yard or the dogs? Were the dogs provoked or not? Lots of unknowns in the article. The attack on the Virginia girl was, by all evidence, unprovoked. Those two pit bulls were hers, and had been raised from pups by her. By all reports they were gentle and kind dogs - right up to the point where they were shot after mauling her to death and being found chewing on her rib cage. There was a FOURTH news story in the headlines from Cleveland, OH about pit bulls breaking out of the fence at their owners home and eating the stomachs out of two miniature horses on a neighboring farm. Just another fluke in the history of the misunderstood and mistreated pit bull breed, I assume.
