Did CCH peak at the beginning of the season?

Featured Replies

All true on cummuting and playing pressure teams back to back. And played close in his e losses. Also lost to the eventual champ of the tournament so obviously great team.

The issue we are thinking is if (yes if) they get out of the region this is the exact format they will be in... need fixes.

There was so much preseason discussion on how CCH was so deep and most teams would not be able to match up with them going 9-10 deep. I realize AJ wasn’t available and he’s an impact player but I’m surprised that with all the depth that they have there are issues.

I agree with your comments.

IMO, they depend too much on the guard play and arent developing the other players into confident scorers.

They need to play more team ball!

When its crunch time, the two guards seem to be the only ones who take shots.

This is too easy for good defenses to key on ...

Not developing other players into confident scorers. THIS is a problem with a lot of high school coaches! I've seen it for years where the coaches want the good players to score and get the attention, and never work with the supporting players to make them better.

All of that depth would be more than just role players on any other team not named CovCath. IMO they should be utilized as more than just roles players for the Colonels as well.

How predictable to their opponents when their offense runs through only a few key players. They have the opportunity to make others teams' defense chase their tails.

I get that you can't have too many chiefs, yet each of those guys are capable of being an offensive threat.

They can win every game for the rest of the season, and I still won't buy into the philosophy that with all of that talent that only your chosen few remain the focus.

This bunch has the chance of being a legendary TEAM when all said and done, but to be that TEAM they need to spread the love. Give all of those guys the green light to build the confidence and experience that they too are aloud to take the ball to the hole. It's so frustrating to see guys who've obviously been trained to be discouraged from even looking to score.

I would say no. Just over hyped by the media and fans. The letters CCH do not mean total excellence.

Coaches work with all players. Not everyone is going to be a star but you can be a star at your role. Not all players are skilled to be scorers but there are other facets of the game.

100%...and everyone has to buy into that role for the team.

I think CovCath is still adjusting to life without VonHandorf. When the school's all team leading scorer graduates, kids are going to find themselves in different roles. When you are playing a tough schedule, that process gets even shorter.

A long time between now and March though. I'm guessing they figure it out.

Give me a break. They have played a killer schedule. Went to King of Bluegrass while in the middle of exams. Driving back in forth four straight days and having to play the two best defensive teams that press in state Ballard and Fern Creek getting home late. They did not have AJ and CJ was in foul trouble against Fern Creek. Relax they are fine. Cooper hasn’t played anyone they are fresh stayed in Louisville out of school since Tuesday. Not excuses but I know from the families the kids are dead tired.

Sorry but that sounds like all excuses. They were ranked 22 in the nation they shouldn’t have had any problems with any of these schools. Unless your saying these schools should be ranked higher than CCH in the nation.

Overhyped as some have already stated. I’m all for being excited for your team and players but at least let the season play out.

Shouldn’t have had any problems? They lost to top teams in the state. They didn’t lose to any cupcakes.

You dont mean that. Excuse or not, that schedule and travel takes a toll. Add to it 3 of the best teams in the state, 2 from the city hosting the tourney, and you get unique challenges that won’t be faced at any other point in the season.

Seven assistant coaches? That seems like a lot.

Do they still do the head coach coach during timeouts while the 7 assistants converse with the referees?
