Agree it's gotten better, but letting two OL starters walk without quality replacements was bad IMO, especially a great leader & locker room guys like Whit. Heck, he was a far better team spokesperson than Marvin--At least he told it somewhat like it was, not the same canned lines that ML spews game after game.

Hard to find out if the OL replacements are quality until they actually play. I don't blame Marvin for that. There's hard to have guarantees with the draft.

Not necessarily blaming Marvin for those either, but the staff & management needs to accept the blame for these type misses? When scout team guys outplay your 1st rounders then somebody's not paying attention??

See I know i am in the minority but I still feel like they were right to not sign him to the huge deal he got. As i have stated the Bengals were basically in an unofficial rebuild these last few years. Except they were rebuilding while trying to compete and would have if the 2 high draft picks worked out. We seen now they didn't.

 

As much as people say should have signed Whit. I don't see him making such a difference where we win 2 more games and make the playoffs with him. Instead we are a team who still misses the playoffs but paying a 36 year old 13 million a year. While still being a bad o line. People seem to forget we were a bad line in 2016 with both him and Zeitler here.

 

Imo they made the right call and rebuilt well in other places. Now this off season focused on ol, safety and I wish qb but that won't happen.

It happens. Over the last 5 to 7 years there has been a lot of misses by teams in early rounds in regards to OL. Teams are having a harder time evaluating lineman in these spread offenses. Plus I don't think our line coach has adjusted well to knowing how to coach those type of lineman up.

Marvin said in his news conference today that we need to stay the course. That means another 5 to seven wins and no TD's the first two weeks.
