December 5, 20178 yr It has been obvious for 15 years that Marvin is not going to run a tight ship. A team with an actual GM and ownership group may have seen the writing on the wall after the Palmer/Johnson/TJ era died and learned from the mistake. Once this group hit a plateau, like it did in the second half of 2015 through the embarrasing finish to that playoff game, they should have made the change. Losing your job after losing your 7th consecutive playoff game doesn't make your franchise a laughing stock. It shows that results matter. Lewis coached teams have repeatedly under-achieved in pressure games due to the culture of the locker room. It is a pattern of front-runner behavior and a TON of that has to do with a lack of discipline. Lack of discipline in execution, keep cool heads, and making key decisions. They would have been fine if he had been fired. Man you're preaching to the choir, but when Zim left to go to the Vikings the Bengals weren't going to fire Marvin Lewis they had just won the division and had a young team that everyone felt really good about. You can't fire the coach in that situation. We have the luxury of hindsight. If we could have seen in the future and known what we do now obviously firing Marvin would have been the right thing to do. But we didn't have that luxury. When Zimmer left basically the feeling wasn't we should have fired Marvin and given the job to Zim, it was it sucks to lose a guy like Zim and I hope the Bengals will be ok without him. Obviously they weren't, but this team had its best year of the Marvin Lewis era in 2015, 2 years after Zimmer left. So it's not like the team fell apart immediately after his abscence.
December 6, 20178 yr Question: Why wasn't the personal foul for the hit on Tez AND the Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty for taunting enforced? Didn't one take place during the play and then the taunting would be a dead ball foul? Ju-Ju was still standing over him after the play had ended and even a Steeler teammate tried to make him step away. Should that not have been 30 yards similar to the illegal hit Tez had in the playoff and the additional 15 yards on Pac Man?
December 6, 20178 yr The Gio hold that brought back the Green touchdown was terrible and I thought the worst call I'd seen in awhile and then they call the PI on Dre. Bengals were sloppy but the refs were bad. If the Green TD doesn't get called back game over. It's just frustrating . The only thing that makes me happy is knowing Tom Brady and the Patriots own the Steelers and that isn't changing this year. If the Steelers KO return for a TD doesn't get called back??? Both bad calls IMO.
December 6, 20178 yr Moving on to other game related topics, the stats might not be as good as some of his other games but that game ranks right up there with the best games I have ever seen Andy Dalton play. He was on target all night and he blew up Steelers defensive calls all night long with quick reads and passes. He was definitely not the reason they lost. His short and intermediate throws were on point. He still frustrates the crap out of me on his deep passes to green. One of the tallest and best guys at going up to get it, Yet he had 3 more throws last night where he just leads Green out of bounds. So frustrating seeing that lol. I also think he has to see that defense at the end of the game and check to a run to the right. Last night could have been that game even Gruden talked about where he wanted to see Dalton actually lead them to victory and not just be a part of it. He has to get them in the right play, stuff like that could be huge to change the momentum that was all Steelers at that point. So still waiting for him to be the reason they win and not just be a part of it. But overall as you said that really was the best prime time game he has played.
December 6, 20178 yr Green and Dalton have never scored more than 21 points against the Steelers. I knew the offense usually struggles against them, but i didn't realize they never had one true big offensive game against them.

The officials said both fouls happened while the play was in progress. Don't jump on me. That is what the officials said. The unsportsmanlike conduct was not a dead ball foul in the opinion of the officials.
December 6, 20178 yr When the dirtiest player in the league gets some karma! The dirtiest player in the league was out for this game, Mike Mitchell!

December 6, 20178 yr Mitchell is an angel compared to Burfict. Far from it, he takes a cheap shot every chance he gets. He NEVER just touches a man down but always lays some type of hit on a player while he is on the ground. It may not always be against the rules but he is as dirty a player as there is in the league.

You're talking to someone so classless he's openly cheering that a guy got hurt.
December 6, 20178 yr Dalton showed a lot of class kneeling with the Pittsburgh players after the game and praying for Shazier. Hope for a full recovery.

It may not always be against the rules but he is as dirty a player as there is in the league. And he's not going to change. He took to twitter after the suspensions were handed out calling for the removal of Goodell. There's no need for those types of hits in the game, and he cannot see that.
December 6, 20178 yr And he's not going to change. There's no need for those types of hits in the game, and he cannot see that. Oh, he sees it perfectly. It's all about his rep. He wants the spotlight. He needs the spotlight. He has to have the spotlight. This won't be popular, BUT I think he knew he wasn't hurt when he let them strap him on the gurney and haul him off, finger raised to the sky, soaking in the adulation. As soon as he got out of sight, he demanded to be released from the restraining devises and jumped off the gurney, living to fight another day.

Beyond that, the players don't have a say if they're carted off or not. That's a decision made by the team doctors and medical personnel.
