Devin Patrick Riley.

More people?

The factors were on a per capita basis.

The operative word being "rates".

Japan - .06 firearm deaths per 100,000 population per year

Germany - 1.01

United States - 10.65

United Kingdom - 0.23

Spain - 0.62

The countries whose rates are higher than ours are Brazil, Columbia, El Salvador (notice a pattern here?), Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Swaziland, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Muskie never gave a link so while I assumed they were talking about rates, I didn't want to get into that. That said, rates and "averages" are easily skewed when you have a larger number of people as well as more urban areas. Also I don't trust Wiki one bit for factual information, a lot of those deaths listed are likely accidental deaths, which again can be skewed.

Germany isn't similar enough?

Anyone have any insight on what they think has changed in people that we are seeing so many people wanting to commit such atrocities?

We are in the mitts of a civil war.

I'm pretty much with you, although I will say this.

One of these days - hopefully - people will wake up and realize that "thoughts and prayers" ain't enough.

Yep, just like those mowed over by vehicles. Some day people, hopefully, will wake up and realize the true problem.

When the NY incident happened, it was terrorism. This incident happens and we are wondering why.

It's all terrorism. Domestic, or international. Let's not play games.

Germany isn't similar enough?

Not really. Urban areas in the US are where most of gun related (or any weapon for that matter) deaths occur. The USA has a lot more urban area's than Germany.

Fact.

When the NY incident happened, it was terrorism. This incident happens and we are wondering why.

It's still terrorism in my mind.

I wish I knew what the true problem was.

About 75% of Germany is considered urban. About 80% of the US is considered urban.
