Has anyone suggested that?

 

All I've seen is people commenting that we need to try to come up with ways that these crazed individuals don't have access to guns.

 

Yes, some people have. Not necessarily people here.

 

I also don't like the "no fly, no buy" suggestion.

Nor do I. Nor do MOST of the people that are promoting some type of gun legislation.

 

Bad people will be able to get guns when they want them no matter what law you come up with. No law will stop someone hell bent on killing.

 

Laws don't stop drug use. Laws don't stop domestic violence. Protection orders don't actually protect anyone, it's just words on paper.

Mine either. So if we take any new gun legislation off the discussion table, what do you all recommend? At the moment, no one seems to have anything and that is unacceptable to many, thus their continual renewal of the gun legislation discussion.

 

1. Put incoming immigration into the USA to an almost halt. (this also means stopping illegal immigration into the US as well.

2. Re vet every person with a US Visa for any reason. (remove the ones that need to be removed)

3. Bring back and Fund mental health institutions, including those that are locked down facilities. Update the laws to allow for a legal process in which someone can be put in said facility for short term, long term, permanent care.

4. Change the law on gun free zones, in order to have a gun free zone, you must have to provide and pay for armed security on site.

5. (goes with 4 a bit) Create a Funded program that takes military personnel transitioning, and uses them for Item #4. In fact they can continue to be government employees if its at schools and public places.

6. Tweak the HIPPI laws so that medical professionals that deem someone needs to be watched further, that they can report so and allow proper authorities to monitor them, without invading their direct privacy.

For whatever reason we can't stay away from the gun control debate in this thread.

 

If someone wants to start a new thread to focus on the tragedy and not gun issues or politics have at it.

 

However, please don't make the mistake of taking another thread about this tragedy off course.
