My dad was more of a 60s British invasion guy, and I came on to ELO later in life...Jeff Lynne is really man before his time. I dig the hell of a lot of his stuff since I came into it in my twenties. Big fan of "Mr. Blue Sky", and "Strange Magic" ranks pretty high in my book nowdays too.

I tell you who I am glad that I didn't vote for...the current governor who has so little respect for the teaching profession. But what do I know? I'm not sophisticated enough to know better and have simply been hoarding my sick days...or as I like to call it, "going to work when I wasn't sick."

"Collage Gameday's Tom Rinaldi does a piece every week. He did one on this story a few weeks back. It is one of my favorites. Iowa does a fantastic job at this hospital, and their treatment of the kids and their families is phenomenal.

...saw this active thread and thought "Wow it can't already be Friday, is it?"

Seeing it in my school right now. People (young and old) aren't going into the teaching profession. The pension system was one of the perks that motivated folks to choose teaching. I imagine law enforcement and other civil careers will suffer too.

 

I could tell a long, entertaining story about this but to sum things up when I got into law enforcement I was told about all the horrible things I was going to face (all true) but... then I was always reminded of what a great perk the pension system was for Police Officers willing to stick it out for the long haul.

 

If you are young women or man thinking about getting into law enforcement run a million miles in the opposite direction. It is not worth it any longer, not even close.
