So will this team be better than the 2013-14 Randle team that was inconsistent in the regular season, but went on a memorable run to the title game? Will it be better than the 38-1 team of 2914-15? Will it be better than the Ulis/Murray 2015-16 team that lost to Indiana in the 2nd round? Will it be better than last year's Fox/Monk/Bam squad? I'm thinking 2010-2011. The Brandon Knight team. That team struggled to find an identity but you could tell that it was there it just took most of the season to put it together. I think they'll be better than the 2013-2014 team that was just plain bad the entire year and turned it on in the tournament.
October 26, 20178 yr Are they going to be great? Probably not. Is a perfectly balanced lineup? No. But, the number of players (particularly freshmen) who produce will determine the success of the team whether you want to label them as a forward or a 4 or a post. Which they are probably going to struggle to produce because many of them are the same pieces. Put a Doron Lamb, Devin Booker, Aaron Harrison, Jamaal Murray with the bunch. Totally changes things.

There isn't a Brandon Knight on this team for sure. But I think there is more talent on this team than what surrounded Knight that year. The playing style and identity will not be similar to 2011-12 but I think the roller coaster ride of the season will be similar.

All 5 of the starters spent at least some time in the NBA.

I expect it to be an ugly regular season and much like the 13/14 I will probably quit watching in late January and turn it back on come SEC Tournament time just for the simple fact that it kills me to watch them struggle.

I hope they prove me wrong but it seems to me they have a lot of talent but a few key players are going to have to play roles that don’t best fit their game. Whether they can make those adjustments before the tournaments is the question.
October 29, 20178 yr This team won't be as bad as the 12-13 team. I'd say they will be slightly better than the Ullis/Murray team. A sweet 16 would be outstanding for this group. I'll say 9 losses and an exit in the round of 32. Hope they can prove me wrong.

Cal has been 100% against the zone since he's been at UK.... The article you read is in direct contradiction with what Calipari said on KSR last week. Said he may play some zone but definitely won't be often or long.
