October 22, 20178 yr Author If Mariah Carey was performing out in my backyard, I wouldn't attend. I'd probably call the law. Especially if she sings that one Christmas song I won't mention by name. You know, the worst song in the history of humankind.
October 22, 20178 yr Though I can appreciate the incredible vocal talent, a perpetual Opera would be absolute hell for me. I've tasted, and have mostly liked just about every form of the creative and performing arts.... yet Opera... just can't do it man.
October 22, 20178 yr Well then I missed my mark, if anything, I'm trying to take the opposite of a high horse. Who are we, anyone, to say some music stinks that millions of people love? Say it isn't for me, fine. But it is horrible? I think the music snobbery that comes up on this site incessantly is gross, so if that puts me on some weird high horse, I guess I'll ride it proudly. Guess what Snottie, if you like slash metal, good for you, enjoy it. If you love opera, okey dokey, while not for me, I hope it makes you happy. Sorry to not jump on the "Random Musician that is wildly successful STINKS" bandwagon. As a lifelong metal fan, I have never heard over the subgenre of slash metal.

October 22, 20178 yr NKY native Pat Obrien's band might qualify.....Cannibal Corpse. No doubt, but to be fair when I did a "Slash Metal" search on Youtube a couple different mixes came up with the likes of Pantera, Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Overkill etc...so my dude @MentschTrachtGottLacht knows his metal man. :ylsuper:

October 22, 20178 yr I can tolerate nearly any type of music to a degree, at least enough to listen to a few songs. But one type I've never understood or liked is rap. Just sounds like someone partly singing but mostly talking out a poem to a heavy bass beat.
October 23, 20178 yr I can do without Journey, anything by David Byrne, anything by Aerosmith from late 70’s on, Nirvana and “rap” country.
October 23, 20178 yr Virtually every music thread we have now gets so judgey. Poster #1: that music is terrible. Poster #2: you realize they fill stadiums nightly, and sell more music than anyone in the world, right? Poster #1: they are all sheep! It stinks. I can appreciate all music, and love a lot of it, old and new, but I certainly realize that some people's musical taste is different than mine. Doesn't mean I think their favorite music stinks, just means it isn't for me. They aren't less of a music fan than I, nor vice versa, just that what we want from music is different. So, so judgey.... Are you new here?! Every thread on BGP is full of judgment! We judge the players, the coaches, the officials, the administration, the fans, the venues, TV shows, politicians, activists, movies, laws, states, countries, love, marriage, divorce, crime, God! OMG, I could go on and on! :isurrender:
October 24, 20178 yr I’m gonna go to the real hell…., but Christian rock music. No bigger buzz kill than being in a musically induced happy place, then out of nowhere being reminded that I’m a sinner who needs saving. Creeps me out.
November 3, 20178 yr this new pop country is :poop:, that would be my hell I could also throw rap and hip hop in with it all :poop: to me. I love 90's alternative actually me and a friend do a lot of covers from that genre.
