Top Teams if Next years Alignment were in place

I think if I was a AAAAA team next year I wouldn't be liking the rule allowing teams to move up to higher classes.

On a serious note what if the AAAAA coaches get together and basically say, "This is bogus. If teams want to move up, let's put into motion a plan that makes them move all the way up to AAAAAA. Why in this age of level playing-fields should our school, that is playing in the correct classification, be denied a state championship because of a team that is not in our classification moves in? "

Would the teams wanting to move up to have anything to "stand on" if moving all the way to AAAAAA is NOT a geographic hardship?

Think if CovCath or Highlands win the 5A title in 2007 and 2008 this won't become a thought in someone's head?

The assumption that is made in a class system is the more students you have to pick from the better your team should be. Based on that assumption moving up in class should never be an issue. It's kind of like the biggest guy in class complaining to the teacher that the smallest kid is picking on him. I understand that these assumptions are not always true but no system is perfect. I would much rather see a team of Highlands and Covington Catholic's quality move up than stay in a lower class and potentially dominate that division year after year. Just my Opinion.

You as a general football fan would like to see CovCath or Highlands move up and that is understandable.

You as a fan, coach, administrator, or supporter of a 5A school that could be in contention for a state championship but year after year are denied (defeated) by teams moving into your class might not like to see it.

Methinks that if Highlands (public, but pretty much distained like a private) or CovCath (private) wins 5A in 2007 and 2008 while Trinity or St. X (private) wins 6A in 2007 and 2008 its back to the drawing board for classification.:scared:

I was thinking with all of the talk of Mercer they would be in the mix for a top 5 no matter what class. But i haven't see them so i don't know.

I am looking forward to better competition during regular season .... Right now only Fleming , East and one timers such as Estill and Morgan ever had a chance to beat the Devils.

Kids rise to level of competition and so will the coaches. Devils have the staff , the feeders , great facitlities , great academics and kids( and parents) who want to be successful.

Devils like cream will rise to the top ...

Russell feeders ... mainly JFL is the best in this area and likely the country ... Every kid in Russell Flatwoods can and most do participate ... JFL here grows every year ....

Mercer is going to lose over 20 seniors after this season. They have a very special sophomore class who will do special things. But, next year will be a big step up in competition. Mercer will have a new Qb next year that's going to open some eyes. He is young and very raw right now. But make no mistake, this kid is a player. He has the arm and he has the wheels. They are playing alot of young kids right now as well. I haven't seen the non district schedule yet. They will have a tough adjustment early on but the future is VERY bright at Mercer. It's hard to say where they will fall as far as top teams. It's way too early for that but, I wouldn't put them in the top 5 at the beginning of the season.

I was going from this season's performance so far, not knowing the big loss of seniors this year.

Not exactly sure what rankings were used in this analysis, but Paduchah Tilghman better improve or the "new" 3a will compete or surpass them. Aren't they 1-5 or something along those lines?

Expect to see the 2a teams who move up to let PT know early on that they don't have an easy road.

Louisville Central is the team that intrigues me. I know nothing about them, but imagine they will be near the top of the enrollment in the new 3a and should do well.

I'd say that there is a pretty good chance that this will happen.

CAM...Central is an enigma. To put it in perspective... if Belfry played Central I am willing to bet Central would have two to three times the athleticism and speed of Belfry,,, but Belfry's physical, disciplined, fundmentally sound playing style is the thorn that rests in Central's side.

The Yellowjackets may very well have been the most talented team in 3A 4 of the past 5 years... but Boyle County has been the perverbial Central slayer with their style of ball.

If the classes were to stay this way for 10 years...

A

Beechwood & Mayfield win 8 of 10

AA

Danville & New Cath. win 8 of 10

AAA

Who knows...good thing Highlands left this one, where is the year in year out strength? Maybe Belfry? May be ONLY semi-balanced class

AAAA

Lex. Cath. & Bell Co. win 8 of 10

AAAAA

Highlands & Cov. Cath win 8 of 10

AAAAAA

Trinity & X win 8 of 10 (what's new?)

In some cases I may be being conservative, 10 of 10 in a couple are quite possible.

Interesting however since there not in that class yet you really dont know how good they would be until they played teams in there class.

Yea... ten years from now... that is a long time from now...

Which just goes to show, people will cry if their team is beat out no matter what you do. Some want everyone to get a trophy no matter what they do or how they finish, this isn't grade school or the special Olympics, not everyone should win a trophy.

Moving up a class or two shows they want better competition and should be able to do so, you would have no argument from the teams who's class they should be in. Since those teams left behind are looked at as not being as strong, they get the chance to win something and not totally dominated. I have been told that Highlands has been playing up a while, and Danville was in 3-A for many years when they should have been 2-A.

I still say Beechwood should have moved up, not too many more strong programs in AA, and only one or two other "elite" teams they didn't play in A. I would rather see both Beechwood and Mayfield move up, I would rather see Beechwood and Mayfield continue to battle NewCath and Danville for a state tilte.
