Top Teams if Next years Alignment were in place

I don't agree with the KHSAA allowing any team to "play up." What's the point of a class system if all a school's enrollment numbers do is stop a team from "playing down?"

That being said, it is sad that any school would complain about having to play other schools with smaller enrollments. Larger schools that cannot take advantage of their intrinsic numbers advantage have noone but themselves to blame.

I, too, would have liked to have seen both Beechwood and Mayfield move up, but, just because a school may want too, doesn't mean they would be allowed to...alot of it depends on # of teams left in the district you're leaving and the # of teams you would have in the new district you're going to...I know for Mayfield, they would have been leaving a district with only 4 teams and would have been the 6th in the 2a district...KHSAA wouldn't have allowed it...The same may be said for Beechwood..i'm not that familiar with there districts in that area...

If Beechwood had moved up it would've left the district with only 3 teams. That is until Brossart starts playing distrct competition, and I'm not sure when that will be. Our district is one of the best in the state in 1a and Beechwood staying doesn't bother us at all. I would hate to see our district playing less talented teams.

You have to have Mercer in there somewhere.

In AAAAA, I wouldn't be so shure.

It really sucks that Bardstown and Danville are in the same district next year. And that's all I have to say about that.

Why?

In AAAAA, I wouldn't be so shure.

Mercer will be in the mix somwhere I'm sure. With the merger and the coaching staff you are looking at a carbon copy of Danville with more numbers. Why do I say this? A big portion of their coaching staff have been affiliated with the Admirals. Coach Jaggers spent several years on Harp's staff and we run the same offense for the most part. The athletes, coaching, and facilities are there. They will compete at a high level.

Actually, I didn't. I just failed to state my own rhetorical question clearly enough. There is no point in having a limit on the maximum enrollment for each of the classes if it is going to be ignored. Kentucky should either have a class system (three or four would have sufficed) or eliminate the class system entirely. Setting upper and lower limits for the classes and then arbitrarily allowing teams to play up in class makes no sense.
