I thought it would be neat to look at how things would be shaping up this season if next years alignment were already in place. I used the rankings from the Lexington paper and this is how things would fall. Please forgive if there are errors it wasn't as easy to compile as I thought it would be. I also included the current alignemnt for comparison

Mercer is good in 2A this year, but they will have a difficult time in 5A next year against the likes of Highlands, Cov.Cath. and Bowling Green

I think Mercer will be in 4a. I spoke to some folks from Mercer at the Npt game & they said they would be in 4A.

According to the KHSAA Alignment, they will be 5A.

I think it's interesting that the top 3 AA teams all play in A now...granted Belfry, Russell and Mercer move up, but, theres still several AA teams now that will stay in AA....Not trying to get another "Who's Better 1a or 2a" thread going, just thought it interesting...

I think if I was a AAAAA team next year I wouldn't be liking the rule allowing teams to move up to higher classes.

Not over three of the top teams in 3A (this year) and two very solid 4A (this year) teams. Mercer will still likely be top 15 but they won't be a top 5.
