Boyle County Rebels

I think Boyle County has the talent to win a couple of game in the playoffs, if the varsity team plays and not the JV. Our coaching staff is not putting us in position to win games. If they continue to do things like they are doing, "making" the playoffs could be questionable. It has been about 15 years since I had the feeling about a season as I did last night.

I had a very bitter feeling towards the staff for some of the decisions that were made last night. I know the players made the turnovers but to give up, is unacceptable.

I agree! And everyone keeps saying Boyle should win a few games in the playoffs. Hello! Boyle has won ONE game! AND they seem to get worse every week!!! And getting worse is ALL on the coaches!!! I say if things continue as they are now Boyle MUST get a new head coach for next year before anymore damage is done!

I can see the bandwagon getting lighter everyday. Boyle will not having a winning regular season this year. That is a shock, Boyle will win a few games in district but will have to face SW Pulaski in the second round.

I agree sadly. This team has loads of talent and the coaches i believe are to blame for the most of it. Yes, they havent stepped up and made plays, but they have to be put into the right position to make plays. This team has as much talent in the upper classes as any state champ team. The 99 team had 3 seniors that played and full of sophmores, but they had Coach Smith. This is not the same staff that Smith had. Coach Smith kept the coaches egos in check and now this staff is the most arrogant bunch out there. The play calling was once again horrible with the same plays being ran over and over again, the offensive coordinator will be the one to take the blame for this season. I sat in the Henry Clay game stands and listened to Lexington area coaches laugh at our play calls and mock our team. With no vertical passing game against Southwestern, they sat on the short routes. I.E. if you run all curls and get almost picked the first time dont run it the next play. The funniest thing is when they scored the JV head coach was calling the plays. If the coaches son (at QB) cant make the throws then dont put him in there. This is not going to get any better, i feel sorry for the upper classmen because when i played at my alma mater my junior and senior years were the best. These kids feel abandoned, alienated, and humiliated by their own coaching staff day in and day out, just so the coaches can throw in sophmores who make mistake after mistake. To give up in a winnable district rivalry, with 1st place at stake, is the most atrocious act ever. The worst thing is that the seniors have one state title and one runners up, with the juniors having one runner up as well, and the sophmores have done nothing for the program, except help to an 1-5 record. These kids work so hard to live up to the tradition and pride and these kids care so much about the game of football that they break into tears on the sideline. Their is NO EXCUSE FOR WHAT HAPPENED.

Im sorry and i hate bashing any team, but these thoughts have been boiling inside of me and i just have to get them out.

The 2nd round is one playoff win.....Boyle County (for better or worse) has achieved a status above going 1-1 in the playoffs, like it or not.

Maybe, maybe not. They will have to face this Southwestern squad again in the second round more than likely.

Sure you cant replace Coach Smith, but if he was coaching right now Boyle would still be 1-5. You guys have to realize there are no Matt Quinns, Jeff Duggins, Brad Cloud, Brandon Smith, Quinn Givhan, Danny Commarford, Jacob Tamme, Seth Tamme, Adam Tamme, Brodie Overstreet, Brandon Clem, Casey McCoy, Jake Rotsker, Lance Mertz.

You cant win without talent, no matter how good the coahes are.

Funniest statement ive ever heard. lol lol lol

I believe Mr. Burgandy was a bit harsh in his assessment of Boyle's players individually, but I tend to agree with the gist of his analysis. I think it is ludicrious for parents and fans to immediately condemn the coach when things don't go well. Have you been to each and every practice Monday thru Thursday? Do you sit in on film sessions? Are you REALLY in touch with the entire team of players and their relationship with the coaching staff?

I have never seen a coach bench players with the intention of losing a game. I have seen coaches bench players because of poor performance, poor attitudes, something that was said or done in the locker room that was detrimental to the team, poor grades, immature behavior...the list goes on.

I do not know Coach Pardue and couldn't name you another member of the BC coaching staff, but I am confident that there was a good reason for not playing those front line players, other than that the coaches are blithering idiots.

The problem with most parents and fans is that the only gauge they use for evaluating a coach is what his current record is.

Based on what I have read on this thread, BC must be in something of a rebuilding mode, which is not unusual for a rural county school, especially one that shares the wealth with another traditional power like Danville.

Could it be that the younger players in the program may hold the key for a return to glory for BC in the next two or three years, and the coaches may know that and want to get them some significant varsity experience?

You cant win without talent, no matter how good the coahes are.
I think it's pretty plain to see that the problems at Boyle have little or nothing to do with the talent level of the players.
People who do not have the inside scoop on things really should think about what they say.
You're not talking to such a person. And you're definitely not hitting the mark with your theory. I'll let the Boyle folks (who do understand the situation) take it from here.

If you can't win this season, why waste your time with the seniors?

It took eight paragraphs; but you reached the core of the problem with this statement.

That's my whole issue. Give Boyle 2 years and things will be back. Boyle was outplayed at Henry Clay, outcoached vs. Danville, and Lafayette was a game that BC could have won as well. WITH THE VARSITY. Are you going to tell me that this team has no talent? Are you going to tell me a team that is missing Bradley Emerson(why did he quit before the season even started), a team that went 11-1 last year is a rebuilding team? Look to the future. Are you serious?!?!? What about these kids out here right now?!?!?!? That is my question. As stated earlier, did the juniors and seniors just suddenly forget to play footballl after 3-4 years in the system. Who made those fumbles last night. I know the JV OFFENSE had a few of them as well. Are you serious?!?!?! In two years you know what we will have....Chris Pardue's 1st senior class. That's what happens in two years. Boyle has no excuse for not being more competitive last night, but when your SENIOR leaders aren't allowed on the field to lead the entire second half, then what good do you have. I know firsthand as well that the future for Boyle looks good(that's not my issue), I am there alongside you and you don't even know it, but I also know that the upperclassmen are getting thrown under the bus, and I feel that they don't need to be. I know Brandon Smith isn't walking through that door, I know Matt Quinn, and Jeff Duggins, and the Tamme family and Leffew family have all graduated, that's not the point. The point is that despite the so called lack of talent, this team was in a position to be successful this year, but now who knows what will happen next. The coaches decided to go with Perry at QB, why, who knows, but to have Grant Tamme behind center all last year and to see him moved to receiver for a QB who may not be as talented as him was a coaching move. Lots a questionable coaching decisions in the past year, and despite the wins or losses, it's the coaching decisions that has all the BC faithful befuddled.

I am so greatful that there is finally a coaching staff in the state of KY that has enough backbone to stand up for what is morally and ethically the right thing to do rather than to just try to win a game. Boyle Co. coaching staff has shown more respect to their players and their school by actually playing the kids that work hard and have the desire to play and WIN! For most upper classmen it is just expected that they play because of their age, not because of dedication. It is probably a good thing if any of the younger players decide they don't want to play now rather than later if they just expect to play on the team without being a "team player"! Good job coaches. once you weed out the "quitters" you will be on a roll again!!!

You make some serious flaws in your claim. First off Pardue's first senior class will be this year’s sophomore class. 2nd Seth Tamme is gone, Andrew Cass is gone, Emerson is gone, Hagen Smith is gone, Jesse Kephart is gone. And guess what those guys with way more talent did not win a state championship, so what do you expect from this team. Also the JV did not fumble the varsity had 7 of them. The JV outplayed the starting Team from PSW, wile the Varsity Boyle Team got man handled.

How many kids from this year’s team started last year? Josh Miller, Grant Tamme, who else am I missing someone, oh yea Zane Hilton, Aaron Waters, No one else did. These guys did not go 11-1 last year; Seth Tamme went 11-1.

Are you telling me last years team was as good at Brandon Smith, Quinn Givhan, Danny Commarford, Evan Teague's team that went 10-2? No way the 04' team could have fun circles on 05, but they still did not win a state title.

Danville did not out coach us, they out talented us. They ran a basic simple Offense just like highlands that should never beat a Boyle Team but it did, because they are better talent. Also, another fatal flaw in your statement is comparing us to Lexington schools, which are over hyped but underachieve every year.

And I am not attacking you, we agree on a lot of things. Our main thing is we both love Boyle. But the seniors are not performing, so they do not deserve to be playing. You can't call them senior leaders if they don’t lead, plain and simple

...I am not one of those people. I have been in way deeper then that.
Which makes your stance even more troubling.

Everyone that wants to post in this thread needs to review the rules first.

You must be referring to that basic simple offense that destroyed Boyle in the state finals.
