I am shocked....I bet Chuck Smith is boiling in what these men (real question) have done to what he built. I truly feel for the kids, they don't deserve what is happening to them...I expect the powers that be to rectify this sooner than later.

It seems to me that it was the fans giving up on their team last season. From the talk on here the stands were empty last year as well een wit hthem winning and success does ruin and spoil some people. Boyle County will be fine and make a good run in the playoffs.

^ How do you figure in that it seems to get worse weekly?

Their schedule gets easier and will build confidence and carry on through the playoffs. They may not make it to the regional championship game but I'd say at least the 2nd round and that is nothing to be ashamed of when you are being accused of having a down year.

The 2nd round is one playoff win.....Boyle County (for better or worse) has achieved a status above going 1-1 in the playoffs, like it or not.

I don't care who you are or who your coach is, if you fumble 7 times then you aren't going to win many games. I don't have a dog in the fight but I don't think you can place blame only on coaches when you have that many fumbles.

I'll have to say that I am shocked by this thread. Boyle County had a run that I don't think will ever be matched by a Public School especially in 3A. It's hard to stay at that level forever. Even teams like Cov Cath etc went through some growing pains.

As an outsider Boyle Co is one of my favorite programs. I LOVED watching them during their run play the game the way it should be played. Coach Smith is one of the best coaches in KY high school history. They also were loaded with some of the best talent in the state the past 10 years.

This season isn't over yet. I've watched my old alma matter fall from fame and they are struggling now too. You have to stick together and not point fingers IMO to fight your way back to the top.

I understand your frustration as I have felt it somewhat but pointing fingers will only add to the demise of the program I'm afraid. I hope everybody in Boyle Co and everybody affiliated with that program stands tall together and fights their way back to the top. I know it's tough right now but there is too much pride there for it to stay down long.

Those kids only have one Senior year and I hope they pull together and rise up!

Well said!

It sounds like to me turnovers were the difference in this game. Was SW ahead in the recovery of turnovers?

Yes, it is practically the same staff, except for the main person Chuck Smith. he of course was the head coach and the rest of the coaches fed off him. Trust me these coaches were totally different when Chuck Smith was there.

I stood there in the rain last night, when most everyone else left, hoping something would turn around. I do not see how you can expect a JV team to beat any varsity team! We all agree that the kids have talent, we all agree that the BC football program is one of the best in the state. So why are there so many upper classmen standing on the sideline. Did they suddenly forget how to play football?

I think Boyle County has the talent to win a couple of game in the playoffs, if the varsity team plays and not the JV. Our coaching staff is not putting us in position to win games. If they continue to do things like they are doing, "making" the playoffs could be questionable. It has been about 15 years since I had the feeling about a season as I did last night.

I had a very bitter feeling towards the staff for some of the decisions that were made last night. I know the players made the turnovers but to give up, is unacceptable.

Hang on Boyle co. faithful. I watched your team back in the summer at a passing scrimmage at Bell. Now, by no means am I bashing your team. But, they did not seem as sharp as they were in the past. But, I felt as most of you do, that they still would be a contender. Boyle has some of the richest tradition in the state and they will be back. Hard work and determination seem to take care of those problems, and I know you all know all about hard work. I remember when Dudley left Bell for Bourbon co. for a few years. He was replaced by long time assistant T. Greer. Coach Greer lost his first 5 games before he got his first win. But, he went on to win the district that year.We thought the world was coming to an end when Knox Central beat us. Hang on and weather the storm you will be back-but sure is not any fun

while your in the middle of the storm.
